Captain Gilbert Lara is an experienced captain who has been fishing the area for 25 years and is also an experienced and successful tournament fisherman. Both he and his staff will do everything they can to put you on the fish!
Feel the wind in your hair aboard Carly, the second of Capt. Gilbert's deep sea fishing boats. Fully equipped with a cabin, an enclosed 'head' and seating for your comfort, she is also fitted with a fighting chair, outriggers, and downriggers for a top of the range sportfishing experience. The setup includes a trolling spread of up to six lines, allowing you to make the most of the blue water fishing opportunities around Belize.
Capt. Gilbert will have all the fishing equipment ready for you, including rods, reels, tackle, and all the bait you'll need. At the end of the day, the crew will clean and fillet your catch, getting it ready for you to have it cooked at one of the excellent seashore restaurants in the area.
Due to the island's nearshore drop off, it only takes 20 minutes to get to the deep sea fishing grounds. This means even short trips can be productive, although you're always in with the best chance of catching the fish of a lifetime on a full day trip! Fish usually targeted on these trips include Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Sailfish, Wahoo, and White and Blue Marlin.
No matter if you are fishing or snorkeling, Captain Hilly Boo's boat has full insurance. There is a 12.5% government sales tax that goes with each tour.

My wife and I had a good time with captain Hillyboo, Carla, and Greg. We left at 8am with the Lucky Strike (clean as a whistle). My spouse has mobility problems; captain and crew went out of their way to help her on and off the boat. We were hoping to catch wahoo but that didn't happen . That's fishing, things don't happen on demand. We caught tuna within the first 20 minutes in open sea and this continued for the better part of the trip. One tuna got caught by a predator so only part of it remained when I reeled it in. We also caught a barracuda. Captain Hillyboo cleaned enough fish for us for several meals. The barracuda was excellent and prepared by the cooks at El Caliente (which the captain recommended). Overall this was a great excursion and we were truly impressed by the knowledge and professionalism by the captain and his crew. In addition I need to point out that the Lucky Strike has a fighting chair needed for bigger fish. I have seen several advertisements for deep sea fishing where the boat is not equipped with a fighting chair. This yet another reason for me recommending this outfitter.

We had the best time deep sea fishing and trying to catch big fish. We were able to catch some nice baracuda, a huge mahi mahi, and a tuna which turned into us catching a huge shark! I annoyed the staff all week with 100s of questions and they happily answered every single one. Thanks so much for the amazing experience!

the crew was great. cooked full lunch and had great drinks on board. caught lots of fish. very glad there was a bathroom on board. we had a great time.

We had a nice afternoon on the water. The fish weren't really biting, we caught one barracuda. It wasn't for lack of trying. The captain and crew put out out a good spread of fresh bait and lures with many tweaks and adjustments. They were patient with the two boys in our group and explained everything they asked. Fishing doesn't always mean catching but we still had fun.
Hilly Boo, Byron and Carla are top notch!! Couldn't have asked for a better experience for my husbands 50th birthday celebration. Book with this captain and crew for fantastic fishing and an even better lunch.
