Captain Gilbert Lara is an experienced captain who has been fishing the area for 25 years and is also an experienced and successful tournament fisherman. Both he and his staff will do everything they can to put you on the fish!
Feel the wind in your hair aboard Carly, the second of Capt. Gilbert’s deep sea fishing boats. Fully equipped with a cabin, an enclosed ‘head’ and seating for your comfort, she is also fitted with a fighting chair, outriggers, and downriggers for a top of the range sportfishing experience. The setup includes a trolling spread of up to six lines, allowing you to make the most of the blue water fishing opportunities around Belize.
Capt. Gilbert will have all the fishing equipment ready for you, including rods, reels, tackle, and all the bait you’ll need. At the end of the day, the crew will clean and fillet your catch, getting it ready for you to have it cooked at one of the excellent seashore restaurants in the area.
Due to the island’s nearshore drop off, it only takes 20 minutes to get to the deep sea fishing grounds. This means even short trips can be productive, although you’re always in with the best chance of catching the fish of a lifetime on a full day trip! Fish usually targeted on these trips include Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Sailfish, Wahoo, and White and Blue Marlin.
No matter if you are fishing or snorkeling, Captain Hilly Boo’s boat has full insurance. There is a 12.5% government sales tax that goes with each tour.
