Freedom Tours offers a range of fun fishing adventures, targeting delicious reef fish and hard-fighting pelagic species offshore. Captain Gilbert 'Hilly Boo' Lara operates a fleet of awesome vessels out of San Pedro, each specializing in a different style of fishing.

This custom-built boat is a great all-rounder, large and sturdy enough to get way offshore in search of monster Marlin and Sailfish, without the high fuel burn which makes cruisers more expensive. She is also perfect for beach hopping, snorkeling tours, and anything else you might want to do on your day out.

The vessel has a convertible top to provide shade in the heat of the day, and an enclosed toilet for extra comfort on longer trips. She has a large icebox to keep all your drinks cool and she also comes with snorkeling equipment for you to jump in and take in the stunning local reefs up close.

The vessel is equipped with plenty of awesome fishing equipment. Outriggers and downriggers can be fitted for offshore trips and her GPS and fishfinder are always busy tracking down the best spots and the biggest fish.

What you do on your trip is up to you. You can spend the day fishing over the reefs for tasty Snapper and Grouper, or head further out to battle Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and more. No matter if you are fishing or snorkeling, Captain Hilly Boo's boat has a full insurance covered! There is an additional 12.5% government sales tax charge on top of the trip price.

You can combine fishing with a beach cookout, where your captain will grill up a delicious feast while you relax, swim, and sunbathe on a remote beach.

Freedom Tours is all about giving groups the time of their lives and sending them home with more than just fish. Captain Hilly Boo's ambition is for everyone to leave with awesome memories and a newfound love for the country and its waters.

We had an incredible day fishing with Freedom Tours. The Captain  put my son and I right on the fish from the start. We caught many different species, with constant bites all day long.
The highlight of the trip was my son catching a trophy sailfish—an absolutely beautiful fish and a memory we'll never forget. The Captain, mates were knowledgeable, professional, and worked nonstop to make sure we had an amazing experience.

Full Day Trip - Fish & Cookout on July 8, 2025 • 4 adults

Miss Carla and Capt Set took us for a full day of reef fishing license, beach lunch and snorkeling. They knew where the best spots to fish in beautiful baby blue water. We trolled some and caught huge Baracudas and Mackeral. Then we went to another location and caught dozens of Snapper and other fish. For lunch, they took us to a beautiful secluded beach, where my son and I played and rested in the water and also saw many bone fish there. Lunch was better then I expected. The potatoes I would describe as close to scalloped but better. The fish and lobster stew was out of this world incredibly yummy. I will 💯 recommend Freedom tours as a great Family outing with an incredible crew.

We had the best time with captain Hillyboo and George! We saw a pod of dolphins that surrounded our boat before arriving at the fishing spot. The fishing was amazing, with almost every cast being successful. None of us had ever caught that many fish in our lives. The crew fileted it all up for us and we had a great dinner. We would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone!

Full Day Trip - Reef Fishing on July 5, 2025 • 2 adults

We met up at the dock with our Capt, Byron and First Mate/Chef George on time. We went reef fishing for the first half of and got roughly 15 snapper and a small barracuda. George was intent on bringing some spiny lobster into the boat but after a lot of trying, the lobster ran off. We got a magnificent lunch on a beach that included barracuda ceviche which was delicious. Being from FL I'm a non-barracuda eater but this stuff was top notch. Then George made us some salad, potatoes, beans and snapper tacos which were all killer as well. After a couple of rum punches we did some trawling and snagged a decent sized Jack Crevalle. Good day on sea. George was very pleasant and Byron was as well.

Captain Hillyboo, Carla, and Greg showed us the greatest hospitality, they made us the most delicious meal with our catch of the day and we were able to spot a baby nurse shark along mama nurse shark. Captain Hillyboo has been in the fishing game 30+ years and you can tell how passionate and driven he is for the craft. We were able to catch tunas and barracudas, despite the rainy weather. Would definitely rebook with Captain Hillyboo again if we come back.
