We had an incredible day fishing with Freedom Tours. The Captain put my son and I right on the fish from the start. We caught many different species, with constant bites all day long.
The highlight of the trip was my son catching a trophy sailfish—an absolutely beautiful fish and a memory we’ll never forget. The Captain, mates were knowledgeable, professional, and worked nonstop to make sure we had an amazing experience.

We had an amazing time on our island reef fishing trip with Freedom Tours Belize. Everything from start to finish was top-tier. Our group caught 32 fish — mostly different kinds of snapper and a few mackerel — and the fresh sashimi on the boat was unbelievable. Truly one of the highlights of the day.

Carla and the captain were excellent — super knowledgeable, patient, and made the whole experience fun and easy, even for beginners. You can tell they really love what they do.

My wife and I had a good time with captain Hillyboo, Carla, and Greg. We left at 8am with the Lucky Strike (clean as a whistle). My spouse has mobility problems; captain and crew went out of their way to help her on and off the boat. We were hoping to catch wahoo but that didn’t happen . That’s fishing, things don’t happen on demand. We caught tuna within the first 20 minutes in open sea and this continued for the better part of the trip. One tuna got caught by a predator so only part of it remained when I reeled it in. We also caught a barracuda. Captain Hillyboo cleaned enough fish for us for several meals. The barracuda was excellent and prepared by the cooks at El Caliente (which the captain recommended).
Overall this was a great excursion and we were truly impressed by the knowledge and professionalism by the captain and his crew. In addition I need to point out that the Lucky Strike has a fighting chair needed for bigger fish. I have seen several advertisements for deep sea fishing where the boat is not equipped with a fighting chair. This yet another reason for me recommending this outfitter.

This was my first time night fishing in Belize, and I wish I’d tried it sooner. Byron and Greg know the lagoon extremely well — it showed when the lights went out on the run back, and they navigated without hesitation. They put us on sardines right away, and we loaded the livewell with solid black, mutton, and schoolmaster snapper on light tackle.

We also picked up a 20-lb tarpon and a 10-lb barracuda, which was a nice bonus to wrap up the night.

If you’re looking for a dependable night-fishing crew in Belize, I’d recommend Byron and Greg.

Captain Hillyboo, Carla, and Greg showed us the greatest hospitality, they made us the most delicious meal with our catch of the day and we were able to spot a baby nurse shark along mama nurse shark. Captain Hillyboo has been in the fishing game 30+ years and you can tell how passionate and driven he is for the craft. We were able to catch tunas and barracudas, despite the rainy weather. Would definitely rebook with Captain Hillyboo again if we come back.
