There's a fish with your name on it in Orange Beach, and Southern Star Outfitters will help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Bobby and Captain JR can tell you all about them.

The fish in these waters include Red and Vermilion Snapper, Scamp and Gag Grouper, Triggerfish, Kingfish, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, and more, depending on the season. You'll target your catch by spinning, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
You're welcome to bring home any fish you catch, assuming they meet regulations and your captain will provide rods and reels.

Your adventure will be on board the Southern Star, a newly restored 47' Jersey vessel that can accommodate up to 16 guests. It has a toilet and AC. Young ones are welcome, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! Bringing snacks and drinks is a good idea so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach. Don't forget your sunglasses and sunblock (non-spray).

A First Mate will be there to assist you and make sure everything is running smoothly. It's customary to tip the Mate 20% at the end of the day to show your appreciation. Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. Simply ask, and your captain can tell you more.

Where do I start.  the captain and deck hand cool AF.  dealt with my multi aged kids, little girl that neeses lits of help, and were patient when I got a little tipsy. We found fish on an off day out of season and killed it.  we ended up with bags and bags and bags of filets.  Well priced and even worked with us adjusting schedule for a bad weather cold snap.  the boat itself was fantastic.  Warm, good tunes.  Convenient clean bathroom, large ice chest we were able to pack with our favorite beverages.  this boating experience is a memory Ill cherish with my family for ever.  i cant say enough good things, but I'll conclude by saying everything was just simply perfect down to the little details.

Exceeded expectations!

4 Hour Trip AM on February 28, 2026 • 8 adults

Captain Gavin and crewman Jay were the best. We had a group of 8 for my birthday and selected the 4 hour trip. We arrived 20 minutes early and everything was prepared. We were very fortunately the weather was perfect and everyone caught 2-8 fish each. Gavin took us to several spots and Jay was busy measuring fish and keeping us instructed on what to do and avoid.

Jay cleaned our haul and we had Zeke’s restaurant cook it for our lunch.

It was a great day and I give them my highest recommendation!

We had the best time

I was very nervous about the trip as the most important part to me was being able to get our disabled son and his wheelchair on the boat safely and to be able to include him in what we were doing for the day. The crew were super helpful and it was so easy to get him on and off the boat. Then they kept us on fish, and we’re not just helping us with fishing, but we’re sure to be talking with him as well and showing him the fish and everything that was going on.

Great Trip

6 Hour Trip on May 2, 2026 • 8 adults

Captain and deckhand truly were great. Me and some guys went down for a 6hr trip and with some storms in the area we pushed our trip from the morning to the afternoon. The captain was adamant that we have a good time because he knew it was going to be rough out in the gulf and done everything he could to get us on fish. Deckhand Jay was top notch in keeping us fishing the whole time- really worked his tail off for us. Great experience had by all of us

Great Mid-October Trip and Caught Lots of Fish

6 Hour Trip - 1:30 PM on October 12, 2025 • 4 adults • 3 children

As our group continues to grow, we had to look at bigger boats this year. Southern Star was just what we needed, and, since we won’t outgrow their boat, we look forward to many years of fishing with them. 

Gavin and Andrew were fantastic, kept our boys (10, 11, and 15) on fish all day, were entertaining and enjoyable to fish with, and sent us home with a happy crew and with more fish than we have ever caught. We limited out on triggerfish and moved on to catching a mess of vermillion snapper, one big Lane snapper, and a variety of other fish. 

The 6 hour trip was perfect for our group, and I look forward to booking again soon. If you are in the area and want to catch some fish, give these guys a call. You won’t be disappointed.
