There’s a fish with your name on it in Orange Beach, and Southern Star Outfitters will help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Bobby and Captain JR can tell you all about them.

The fish in these waters include Red and Vermilion Snapper, Scamp and Gag Grouper, Triggerfish, Kingfish, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, and more, depending on the season. You’ll target your catch by spinning, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
You’re welcome to bring home any fish you catch, assuming they meet regulations and your captain will provide rods and reels.

Your adventure will be on board the Southern Star, a newly restored 47’ Jersey vessel that can accommodate up to 16 guests. It has a toilet and AC. Young ones are welcome, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! Bringing snacks and drinks is a good idea so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach. Don’t forget your sunglasses and sunblock (non-spray).

A First Mate will be there to assist you and make sure everything is running smoothly. It’s customary to tip the Mate 20% at the end of the day to show your appreciation. Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. Simply ask, and your captain can tell you more.

Great Mid-October Trip and Caught Lots of Fish

As our group continues to grow, we had to look at bigger boats this year. Southern Star was just what we needed, and, since we won’t outgrow their boat, we look forward to many years of fishing with them. Gavin and Andrew were fantastic, kept our boys (10, 11, and 15) on fish all day, were entertaining and enjoyable to fish with, and sent us home with a happy crew and with more fish than we have ever caught. We limited out on triggerfish and moved on to catching a mess of vermillion snapper, one big Lane snapper, and a variety of other fish. The 6 hour trip was perfect for our group, and I look forward to booking again soon. If you are in the area and want to catch some fish, give these guys a call. You won’t be disappointed.

The fishing trip was the highlight of our vacation. We took the 6hr tour leaving the marina at 6:30am. Our captian was Gavin and our crew mate was "Monkey'. He prepped all the equipment and was running around the entire time we were fishing. We caught and kept 18 Red Snapper and one Trigger fish. There were 6 adults and a 6 year old in our group. We fished on The Southern Star and I woould search for and reserve the same boat next time. Let me add, thhat there were other boats returning at the same time, one of them caught 5 keepers and the othe caught only one, yikes. I credit our catch to our captain trying different spots and both of our crewmen giving us good instructions, keeping our hooks baited and on how deep to drop our lines.

My son told me after the first 30 minutes…..”I see why they have a 5 out of 5 rating”. It just got better after that. Captain Gavin and Monkey went over the top not only making sure we caught fish but felt comfortable and had a great trip. Best fishing trip I have ever been on.

We were a group of 7, with kids, and this crew did an amazing job. Exceeded my expectations on all accounts. Captain Bob put us on the fish and Andrew made sure we caught them. Captain Bob can park a boat on a dime, so you’ll be in good hands. None of us got sea sick, which I attribute, in part, to his skills behind the wheel. Andrew handled his job with professionalism and humor. Really enjoyed his personality. Fish was cleaned to perfection. When we come back to fish again, I won’t use anyone but these guys. Great humans. Book with confidence.

Caught a PILE OF FISH

It was a great time. We had six adults and six boys, all around the age of 10. Caught a pile of Vermillion Snapper and Triggerfish to take home. Other species as well that were out of season/too small. Captain and hand were awesome with the kids. The six hour trip was perfect, time-wise. Would absolutely recommend!
