Excited to catch some fish in St. Joseph? Make it happen, with Blue Harbor Charters! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Joshua is prepared to put you on fish.
Top targets include Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), Coho Salmon, Chinook Salmon, and more, depending on when you go. On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! There are child-sized life vests available, or you can bring your own. Snacks are never a bad idea so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!
You'll be dropping lines from a 30' Trojan Yacht with space for 6 passengers. It comes with downriggers, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures.
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
You will need to purchase a local fishing license for the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
A few items to bring include sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Morning Half Day Trip on June 29, 2025 • 6 adultsEverything on this fishing charter was absolutely better then expected and thats said only bringing in one fish in our 5 hour morning trip. The boat is made for charters, had plenty of room, ran perfect and was definitely better then we expected. Captain Joshua is a great captain, he knows his stuff, and he definitely impressed us with how hard he tried to get us on to fish, even though it was a very slow day for fishing. On top of that he was very personable, very knowledgeable, and just over all a heart felt, down to earth, very funny man to talk with, ask questions to, and when we went 3 hours without a bite, he was the one keeping up our moral, with jokes, and by calling around to other captains and seeing how they're doing to maybe help us. If you're gonna charter in lake Michigan Captain Joshua and Blue Harbor Charters needs to be your first choice, if he's booked during the time you wanna go I would highly recommend Our Leg A Sea Charters. An amazing experience surrounded by amazing vies and chartered by amazing people. Definitely going again asap!!!!

Full Day Trip on August 19, 2023 • 4 adultsCaptain Joshua was a great captain. He handles the boat very well, and is very knowledgeable about the area and the fishing. The weather was great the day we went, but the fish just weren't biting. But from the reports of the other boats, our boat did better than the rest. We heard of several boats that didn't bring in any fish at all. You can not blame the captain for the fish not cooperating - that falls entirely on the fish and Mother Nature. We did have an excellent time on the boat, as Captain Joshua is a great conversationalist, and First Mate Bandit was extremely friendly and well behaved. The boat was very clean and well maintained. We definitely will book with Captain Joshua and Blue Harbor Charters again - we are already looking for possible dates to be able to go back.

Afternoon half day on May 14, 2023 • 6 adultsMy family took a half day trip for Mother's Day. The weather didn't turn out so great. It rained some and was cold. There was a lot of waves. My daughter and I ended up getting some motion sickness. Captain Joshua changed the direction of the boat in a way to make it better and our motion sickness went away. Despite the weather conditions, we still had a fun time. Captain Joshua is a very nice guy. He fit in with our group.very well. He is a military veteran and has a passion for fishing. He allowed us to bring a cooler full of snacks/drinks on board. The boat had a toilet which is important. His prices are very reasonable compared to other charters. We had a great time. Will sail again with him in the near future!!

This was our first fishing charter experience and we had a great time! My 13 year old son loves fishing and this trip has peaked his interest even more. Capt. Josh is personable and patient. The boat is well-maintained with quality gear. I highly recommend this charter!
