Clearwater Charters is all about fishing the stunning waters of Dauphin Island. With Captain Christopher at the helm, you’ll have a knowledgeable and experienced guide.
Depending on the season, you might hook into Amberjack, Bonito, Cobia, Mahi Mahi, Scamp Grouper, Snowy Grouper, African Pompano Jack, Almaco Jack, King Mackerel, Bull Shark, Red Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, and whatever else is biting. On the day of your trip, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle, or deep drop with electric reels.
Kids are welcome, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board. And, you can’t go wrong with snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
Your vessel for the day is a 35’ Contender center console with space for 6 passengers. It has all the essentials. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It’s customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Have in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain.
Don’t forget to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
