Based in Tavernier Florida, Sun King Charters is your ticket to a memorable reef fishing experience. Capt Aaron takes the steps to bring a fun, no nonsense easy fishing day on these beautiful waters.

Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Red Grouper, Kingfish, Barracuda, Shark, Spanish Mackerel, Mutton Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, and whatever else takes the bait. During the trip, you might be light tackle fishing, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.

Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board.

The charter trip covers all of your fishing license & permit requirements. If you still aren’t totally sure what to expect - please ask the Capt.

You'll be fishing from a 25’ Sea Hunt Gamefish
that holds up to 6 passengers.
Boat comes with a T-Top for shade, Type-1 life vests, comfortable seating and a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Aaron has rods and reels for you and bait is also provided.

It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, bottled water, and a hat. If you'd like to bring other drinks - please do. Alcohol is permitted. Sun King has an ice chest on board for your drinks/snacks or feel free to bring your own cooler.

Now and then the fish might get away, but a day on the water never should. So make it happen, with Sun King Charters!

Great experience, Captain Aaron Nelson was great

3 Hour Reef Trip on January 2, 2026 • 5 adults

We went with a group of 4 for a three hour excursion of the New Years weekend and had a blast! Captain Aaron was personable, helpful, and made sure we all were coached up and had a great experience. Across the 4 of us, we caught 16 fish for dinner for our family, 5 different types of fish! Captain Aaron even told us how each was best prepared to cook and fileted the fish and packaged them for us when we were done. Overall, a wonderful experience and we highly recommend this experience.

Fishing Trip!!!

Half Day Reef Trip on September 23, 2025 • 4 adults

Hi Everyone!! My group booked a trip with Aaron while we were in the keys. We are not experienced fishermen, with My husband fishing the most, but in Lake Erie. We had such a great time. Aaron was wonderful. Explained everything. My husband and sister piloted the boat (they wanted to). He is so down to earth and understanding. We caught plenty of fish and he explained why we had trouble in some other areas. Afterwards he cleaned the fish, we drank our beverages, hung out like old friends for a little bit, and just laughed. Such a memorable experience. If we are ever back in his area I will be booking another trip with him, or calling him to hang out. I also volunteered to move to FL, and be his deck hand for free. I don’t know why I even leave FL. Thanks Aaron!!!

Amazing day with Captain Aaron!

Half Day Reef Trip on January 7, 2026 • 3 adults • 1 child

Our family of 4 had a blast fishing with Captain Aaron! Our teenage daughter had never fished before and said fishing was what she was least looking forward to, but ended up being her favorite part of our vacation! It was the rest of our family’s favorite too! We saw a pod of dolphins, sea turtles, caught a shark and a ton of other fish! We would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a great day on the water!

Wonderful trip!

3 Hour Reef Fishing Trip - 9:00 AM on January 3, 2026 • 2 adults • 3 children

Our family of 5 had an awesome time on the 3 hour reef charter and caught lots of fish! Captain Aaron was very helpful and encouraging with our kids and helped them learn how to reel in the bigger fish. We took our catch to a nearby restaurant that he recommended, Captain Craig’s, and had a delicious meal there. The fishing charter and meal afterwards were two of our favorite experiences in the Keys!

Great Experience with Capt Aaron!

3 Hour Reef Fishing Trip - 9:00 AM on August 2, 2025 • 2 adults • 2 children

My husband and I took my 5 and 7 year olds for their very first fishing trip. I was a bit worried they would get bored and not really be able to catch anything… but we caught tons of fish, my daughter caught 7 all by herself!!! It was so much fun! Then on return, Capt Aaron prepared our fish and recommended local “Hook and Cook” locations —- needless to say the fresh fish was incredibly delicious and my “French fries only” 5 yr old gobbled up FISH! What a great day! Definitely recommend!!
