Book your next trip with Capitan Moraga and find out what makes the fishing in Playa Hermosa so unique.

These waters are known for Great Barracuda, Mahi Mahi, Grouper, Almaco Jack, Wahoo, Jack Crevalle, Yellowfin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, Roosterfish, Mangrove Snapper, and more. On these trips, it's common to troll and bottom fish.

You can take home any fish you catch, assuming they're legal to harvest. Capt. Moraga can even clean your catch for you. Enjoy it later that day, or pack it away for months down the line. Families making a day of it will be glad that kids are welcome aboard!

You'll be casting lines from a 27' Center console with space for 5 passengers. It has downriggers and all the essentials. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.

The charter boat covers your fishing license, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.

Some essentials are sunblock (non-spray), a hat, bottled water, and sunglasses. Drinks and light snacks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.

Now, come aboard with Capitan Moraga and get hooked!

Wow…
Half Day Trip on August 13, 20252 adults
Spent 2 hours trolling with six rods down only to get nothing. After thay we switched to jigging. Still nothing not a boat in the area was catching anything. Captain and his son were absolutely dedicated to getting us a fish. So much so, i regret to say, i got sick from partying the night before on the boat. Captain begged me to stay for 15 more minutes but i was too sick. On the way in we saw a pod of dolphins and they asked if it was okay to try again. We did and BOOM. 2 3 ft Yellowfin tuna. On top of the dedicated captain, we saw BEAUTIFUL wildlife: turtles, whales, dolphins and TUNA!!! We went to coco beach and had a restaurant cook it for us. Most amazing charter ive ever been on.

Still got supper for 4 of us!
Half Day Trip on January 7, 20263 adults1 child
While we didnt get the mahi we were going after, he tried hard to find us other big fish. Had one on then my son lost it. But he still took us to an easier spot to fish for smaller fish and got 3 red snappers to bring back and have for supper. Caught other little groupers too. My son was still very happy to have caught something. His smaller boat that we booked wasnt working so my 5 star rating is for his other boat that he took us out in, not the capitan moraga. He has 2 boats and profiles on here. He had asked us if we wanted to upgrade but declined, then ended up bringing the big boat since the little one was not working. Very nice man who truly wants to get you into the fish!

Good crew bad day for fishing
Half Day Trip on March 30, 20262 adults
Crew was singularly focused on catching Rooster fish with large bait for the entire time. No bites. No clear backup plan or attempt to switch gear to catch another type of fish. The crew was very attentive and considerate though, giving us pineapple, chips, salsa, sandwiches, and dessert. They picked us up from a requested location. They showed us the surrounding area and pointed out different locations. They followed a pod of dolphins for us and we saw Devil Rays and a turtle. Overall, good for the experience and sightseeing, but rough for actual fishing.
