You’re likely to go after Striped Bass, Bluefish, Cobia, Cod, Mahi Mahi, Flounder, Atlantic Mackerel, Porgy, Black Seabass, Bigeye Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, and more, depending on the trip and the season. On the day of your trip, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board. You can keep any fish you catch, so long as it’s legal. First mate will clean, package and ice your catch for you. Now that’s dinner!
You’ll be fishing aboard a very seaworthy 42’ Downeaster that holds up to 6 passengers. The vessel has all of the latest electronics and safety gear exceeding Coast Guard regulations. It has outriggers, downriggers, Green and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. You’ll find rods, reels, tackle and other specialized fishing equipment waiting for you on board.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates often work for tips, and it’s customary to offer them a 20% tip. The charter boat covers your fishing license, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.
Don’t forget to bring a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). There will be some drinks and snacks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed but limited to beer, wine and spiked seltzer type alcoholic beverages, hard liquor is not permitted. just be sure to avoid glass bottles. Absolutely no illegal drugs , including marijuana (illegal on federally licensed vessels)
