Local species include Tautog, Striped Bass, Flounder, Black Seabass, Weakfish, Bluefish, Sheepshead, Cod, Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Little Tunny, and more, depending on the time of year. On these trips, it's common to troll and bottom fish using light tackle. Capt. Connor also offers fly fishing trips too!
Retriever Fishing Charters welcomes kids aboard, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. And, you can't go wrong with snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!
Capt. Connor welcomes you aboard a 20' Maritime bay boat that can carry up to 4 passengers. It has all the essentials. Capt. Connor will provide rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish. Don't forget to bring sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor and glass bottles.

Never done a private charter like that before, we are from Miami and moved up to nyc for work. Wanted to take a break from being in the city and get out on the water and catch some fish. Not only did we catch over 30 flounder but we even got a Bluefish. The best part though was the man, Captain Connor, a great person to spend the day with. I was definetly nervous about how the energy would be having never met before but man was great. It was great to converse with him and hear some of the many fishing stories he has and knowledge he has on the water is amazing. To sum it up the Dude was an encyclopedia of the ocean and a great man to hang with. Also cleaned and filleted our fish. Highly recommend for those wanting to fish privately/not on a party boat. Or even just those wanting to be with nature and escape from the city.
Captain Connor was great. He took care of everything we needed your alone with your group not with a big group of strangers. He knows where to go and how to fish. It’s a little bit smaller of a boat than the big ones but more than enough for your group. Brand new engine and he loves to chat with you while you’re fishing. I loved it will come back!
Connor took my son and I on our first charter fishing trip. Connor was extremely helpful and really knew his stuff! It was a memorable experience! We are looking forward already to going out again ... maybe on a longer trip.
this was an awesome trip with my son and grandsons! captain connor did an amazing job teaching my 2 grandsons to fish! we caught plenty of fish( flouder, weakie , bluefish!) I recommend this charter and will definitely be back out again! 💯💯💯🏆
This was a great trip. Captain connor was very knowledgeable and friendly. jobnny in the spot with bait, clearing our hooks and getting the net out! we caught plenty of fish! Would definitely recommend to others!
