At Samara Local Fishing, angling is more than just a sport – it's a way of life. Join Captain Frank, a professional and passionate local fisherman, on a Costa Rican fishing experience to remember. With trips running all year round and for all types of angler, they are sure to have a fishing package to suit your individual needs.
Capt. Frank's boat is a 25' Mako center console called 'La Reyna.' Immaculately presented and loaded with quality gear, the vessel is a comfortable and effective platform for groups of families or friends. It features brand new Hummingbird electronics, stereo, and twin 4-stroke Yamaha motors. You'll find comfortable seating on board, as well as a T-top shade to ensure that everyone on board can enjoy their experience to the full.
Samara Local Fishing offer both full and half-day trips, and they give you the option of fishing either inshore or offshore. When fishing inshore, you can expect to practice your fishing skills by jigging, popping, bottom fishing, and trolling for species such as Mahi Mahi, Cubera Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, Black and Yellow Fin Tuna, Wahoo, and more.
When fishing offshore, you'll mostly be trolling, and will be able to try the effective 'bait and switch' technique for thrilling big game fishing for Sailfish, Marlin, Tuna, and Wahoo.
Make sure to get your fishing license before the trip. You can easily purchase it online and it costs $15 per person. Drinks and snacks are included in the price of all trips, and Samara Local Fishing also offers a pick-up service for guests who are staying in the local area.

Perfect conditions, smooth water, sunny day, whales, spinner dolphins and a turtle to see and then...hooked a blue marlin. Deck hand Fernando perfectly set, strapped, and hydrated the fighter until he had the leader in hand. Captain Frank was a cheerful, positive, diligent, and committed captain. A bucket list trip of a lifetime.

Amazing day fishing on the water in Samara. My girlfriend and I went in with not many expectations, we were just excited to fish and enjoy the water. Captain Frank and his mate were incredibly hospitable, friendly, and showed us a great time. On top of this we had amazing luck with the fish! Ended up with four nice yellowfin and a large wahoo. Incredibly experience overall and will definitely partake again next time i'm in the area.

Special Christmas present for my six year old grandson which greatly exceeded our wildest expectations. Captain Frank and his mate did everything they could to make this a memorable experience for all six of us which included his four year old sister, who particularly enjoyed our sighting of a whale who waved with his fluke at the close of the sighting, and parents and grandparents. Needless to say, we enjoyed fresh mackerel and yellowfin tuna later that night!!!! THANKS Capt. Frank and FishingBooker for another wonderful fishing experience!!!!

What a day of fishing. Trolled for Wahoo. Saw 5 schools of dolphins, some cruised under the boat with us. See the videos attached. Saw manta rays hurtling themselves out of the water. Saw turtles. And had lots of fun. Ended up with a pot full of grouper. Some for our dinner and fridge. Mmmmm. And some for our friends. Captain Frank and his first mate Olman are passionate at fishing and making sure our fishing experience was fun. Always fun!! Comfortable boat, two large outboard engines and great shade cover too! Lots of drinks and munchies on board for us. Highly recommend Samara Local Fishing and Captain Frank. This was the second time my husband and I went fishing in January and each time is different. Always a pleasure.

We spent a half day inshore and a full day offshore with Frank and Olman, I cant recommend them enough. They were great! Fishing was really tough both days but being on a boat with crew that's interested in talking to you makes all of the difference. The half day inshore we didn't see much for fish at all, just a few red snapper at the end of the trip. The full day offshore we spent a fair bit of time chasing the schools of spinner dolphin trying to find the tuna. No luck with the tuna so we trolled some dead baits for billfish. We had one sailfish come into the spread and slash at one of the baits but no hook up. Shortly after that we had a blue marlin come into the spread and Olman dropped a bonito back to it for a good hook up. Great day on the water with them, I would love to have them on my own boat as guests anytime!.

Captain Frank Fines is a friendly, bilingual, and very knowledgeable local fishing guide in Samara, Costa Rica. Having fished since childhood, he first started working on local commercial fishing boats when he was a young teenager. Over the last four years, Captain Frank has dedicated his time to guiding charter fishing trips, and he has worked for several sport fishing boats as captain and guide. This experience has proven to him how much he loves sharing his experiences with anglers from all over the world, and he now he is proud to operate his own charter business aboard a fully rigged Mako 25 ft.
