Ready to go fishing in Kailua-Kona? Make it happen, with Manta Adventures!
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Mahi Mahi, Shortbill Spearfish, Skipjack Tuna, Wahoo, and whatever else takes the bait. Depending on the species you're after, you may find yourself light tackle fishing, trolling, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
If you're traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Feel free to bring your own snacks to maintain your energy throughout the trip!
Your boat for the day is Maheli Heli, a 36' sportfisher with space for 10 passengers. It has outriggers, a fighting chair, all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures.
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's always wise to bring sunscreen (non-spray), and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Give yourself something to look forward to and book a trip with Manta Adventures and Maheli Heli!

The fishing has been flat the last week or so on the big island. The crew did their very best to put us on fish but after 5hrs we only sighted a Mahi Mahi but no bite. The crew told us that they would like to stay out another hour to see if we couldnt catch something we agreed abd we caught a Ono 15 minutes later. Captain and crew were top notch will use again.
The captain, crew and boat were all fantastic. Very knowledgeable and friendly chat. We had a couple of take downs but nothing stuck, but that is fishing. Highly recommend to everyone!!!
Only complaint is that communication through the app was not great. They are new to using it but they read my messages and didn't respond for multiple days. Other thing was that I was told it would be 5.5 hours and the captain was late so he could get us ice and then we ended at the 5 hour mark. Other than that Danny and Christian were so nice and fun. Even caught the only fish caught in the water that day from all the boats out

Easy booking. Excellent communication. Friendly and knowledgeable crew. And we brought home an amazing catch!

Captain Brent was very accommodating and understanding and willing to go the extra mile to make sure his customer was taken care of.
