Life’s 2 Short
Capt. Alex Short runs trips out of Destin aboard a 26’ Worldcat. These waters are known for Snappers and Mahi Mahi and he will show you how to catch them, whether you’re trolling or bottom fishing. With extensive knowledge of the area, he has a trick or two up his sleeve, and the only way to learn is to join him out on the water!
These waters are known for Cobia, Red Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Gray Triggerfish, Gag Grouper, Kingfish, Sailfish, Mangrove Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, and more – with any luck, you’ll have tight lines in no time. You can expect to do some trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.

Capt. Alex will provide high end rods and reels for you and your group to use all day comfortably. A wide variety of trolling lures are available for use too.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more. It’s recommended to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass.

Great Captain and Great Fish
Had a great trip and Captain Alex is the best! He is knowledgable and made the trip the best experience. Captain Alex helped us get on fish and helped make sure i landed an awesome Amber Jack. Captain helped me to stay focused when i got a little "green around the gills" from the boat rocking. Every aspect was done with care and expertise. Alex is the real deal
My wife and I booked a four hour trip in the bay. The gulf was far too rough for us to fish on the day our trip was booked. Alex is knowledgeable on history of the area as well as the science behind fishing, and you can tell he really loves what he does. He was on time, friendly, and made us feel comfortable and welcome onboard his vessel. The thing Alex did that meant the most was the care he took to make sure my wife (who gets motion sickness from time to time) didn’t get sick. Although there’s not a ton he can do to combat that, the fact that he really did care that she didn’t get sick was meaningful. You can tell he doesn’t just do this to make a buck. If you want to catch fish in Destin with the realest captain out there, book with Life’s 2 Short!

Fun time and fun guide
Captain Alex made the trip for the four of us. He is a funny, fun, experienced, and good guy. He got us on fish and explains everything, teaching us. He got my group on a limit of red snappers even though the weather conditions weren’t ideal. He knew he had to keep moving to get on fish and figured out the fish in the time we were with him. He is a great guy to talk to and keep you entertained. His boat is organized and clean. Not only that, the restaurants we went to knew who he is and can confirm the great things we had to say about him. He even recommended some other restaurants that were phenomenal for our catch and cook. Book captain Alex for your next trip! And you can’t forget about the beard!
