Capt. Alex Short runs trips out of Destin aboard a 26’ Worldcat. These waters are known for Snappers and Mahi Mahi and he will show you how to catch them, whether you’re trolling or bottom fishing. With extensive knowledge of the area, he has a trick or two up his sleeve, and the only way to learn is to join him out on the water!
These waters are known for Cobia, Red Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Gray Triggerfish, Gag Grouper, Kingfish, Sailfish, Mangrove Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, and more – with any luck, you’ll have tight lines in no time. You can expect to do some trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome!
Capt. Alex will provide high end rods and reels for you and your group to use all day comfortably. A wide variety of trolling lures are available for use too.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more. It’s recommended to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass.

great fishing trip

i could not ask for an better experience we got to catch bait for our big fishing witch was cool in just its self them to be able to hit fish with the bait we caught and captain Alex is just a cool and down to earth person was easy to talk to and to relate to i would go on another trip with him a 1000 times over again I highly recommend him and you would not be disappointed in yr charter with captain alex he put us on some very good spots but i will say 4 hrs is not enough time i highly recommend to go on 8 hr trip just bc as soon as the fishing gets good then you have to head in but we got put on so many different fish I highly recommend LIFE 2 SHORT AS YOUR FISHING CHARTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I booked a four hour trip in the bay. The gulf was far too rough for us to fish on the day our trip was booked.
Alex is knowledgeable on history of the area as well as the science behind fishing, and you can tell he really loves what he does. He was on time, friendly, and made us feel comfortable and welcome onboard his vessel.
The thing Alex did that meant the most was the care he took to make sure my wife (who gets motion sickness from time to time) didn’t get sick. Although there’s not a ton he can do to combat that, the fact that he really did care that she didn’t get sick was meaningful. You can tell he doesn’t just do this to make a buck.

Once-in-a-lifetime trip

If you haven't fished in Destin, you should. And when you do, definitely go out with Alex. Last night, we went out with Alex for the second consecutive day, this time a 2-hr evening shark trip. We caught 2 giant (9ft and 14ft) sandbar sharks and we lost a third one in between the two we got to the boat. We spent literally every minute of the trip pulling them in. Alex was amazing ... very instructive/helpful, patient with my kids, and an all-around good dude. Thanks for a memory that will last a lifetime.

The weather was awful, but
we couldnt reschedule because we didnt have time. This was a gift for my son, and captain Short tried everything he knew to try and get us a fish. He was accomodating, knowledgable, and pleasant. He was also extremely patient with us greenhorns. Will book again!
