Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Amberjack, Great Barracuda, Bonito, Cero Mackerel, Horse-eye Jack, Jack Crevalle, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Blue Marlin, Wahoo, Yellowtail Amberjack, and anything else that bites. On these trips, it’s common to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. Capt. Van Emsley also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.

The Captain is happy to have kids aboard, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise, you should bring your own.

Capt. Van Emsley runs a 26’ Panga that holds up to 8 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. The Captain will supply rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is available, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.

Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more. Some essentials to bring are bottled water, sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks included on board.
