Hi, my name is Joseph, and I am the proud local owner of Roatan Reef Explorer Tours here in Roatan, Bay Island of Honduras.
I've always been passionate about fishing since I was a kid. Being on the ocean and catching fish is the greatest therapy for me; it's like your mind connects with nature, and you become one. Started to fish with my Uncle Earl, back then, when we used a Paddle to get out to the reef and bottom fishing because we couldn't afford an engine. Now here I am offering you the best fishing trips on our island.
Our Boat is a 26ft by 9ft modified to our liking with a Yamaha Outboard 200 4 Stroke Eco Friendly
Equipped with 5 Rod holders on the Stern, 2 Outriggers, 4 Rod holders on the T Top, Rod reels, and lures are provided.
The perfect vessel for your fishing trips: Half Day, Full Day, or Night Fishing. Whether you are an experienced angler or a first timer, we have what you need.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate.
Targeted fish: Dorado (Mahi or Dolphin), Wahoo, Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna, Barracuda, Bonito, Red Snapper, King Mackerel (Kingfish), and more.
You can expect to do some spinning, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Your fishing license for the day is included with the charter boat; simply show up ready for some fishing! Please note that you may need to release some fish due to regulatory requirements. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.
Don't leave home without sunblock and sunglasses. Drinks will be provided for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.

6 Hrs Fishing Trip on July 9, 2026 • 2 adultscame to roatan for my honeymoon and the whole trip was amazing. but the fishing was a different experiance got to hook up on a couple of bonitos and a barracuda while trolling, and did some deep sea fishing as well and my while hooked up on two more barracuda and had the biggest one of the day, also go to hook up on a black fin red snapper, and another type of red snapper. a great experiance in total and amazing captain and first mate.

Special 4 hour Shared Trip For Amy on November 19, 2025 • 1 adultJoe and his mate, Aaron, were great hosts. Finding Joe at the port was very easy. His van was air conditioned and it was a short drive to the boat. The boat was perfect for the trip. Joe was really nice and personable and easy to make conversation with. I really enjoyed his company and learning about him and the island. Our trip was great and I caught tuna and barricuda! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone for a great fishing experience. As a female solo angler I felt very safe and comfortable. A family joined me on the trip and I would expect that they would have the same great experience.

Half Day Deep Sea Fishing (AM) on October 22, 2025 • 3 adults • 1 childWe finally realized our lifelong dream of deep-sea fishing while in Roatan for a wedding. What a blast these guys were!!! Joseph truly LOVES his job! I think he’d fish 24 hours a day if he could stay awake. Lol. We were blessed to spend several hours with Joe and Cesar in the beautiful Caribbean waters and caught enough fish to make us deliriously happy. We can’t wait to go back!!!! They both have such a great sense of humor it is a pleasure being around them. Cesar even cleaned our fish. You guys are the best!!! We can’t wait for our next adventure with you!!

Spent half a day with Joseph and Roatan Reef Explorer Tours - We were 4 - me and my 3 sons (ages 15, 19,and 20). We left early in the morning and ended up catching a couple of blackfin tuna, a large barracuda and a large Mahi. The boat was clean and well-stocked. Joseph is a great host and kept us all smiling and entertained with his stories of fishing and the island. It was a completely relaxed and stress-free day and we got out catch cleaned and bagged right after. We made sashimi with the tuna, and some of the Mahi and the rest we used in a nice seafood pasta we made back at the house. All-in-all a perfect morning. Thank you Joseph! We'll be giving you a call the next time we're in Roatan (hopefully soon). Good luck with your own upcoming USA fishing adventure.

We had such a fantastic day on the water with Roatan Reef Explorers and Captain Joseph! These guys were incredibly kind, funny, super knowledgeable, and especially great with our young son—they made the whole experience fun and relaxed for our family. While we didn't catch everything we were hoping for, Captain Joseph worked hard to get us to the best fishing spots and kept things entertaining the entire time. The snorkeling was absolutely beautiful and a highlight of the day. Highly recommend this tour if you're looking for a fun, memorable experience in Roatan!

My family and I were in Roatan for the day on a cruise. I arranged this fishing trip in advanced and I'm very glad that I did. Joseph was waiting for us and had us on the water fishing very quickly to make the most out of the day. He was very knowledgeable of the waters and area in general. After a fun day of fishing Joseph recommended a nice seafood lunch restaurant and other local activities. He made sure we were back to the ship in plenty of time. The whole family enjoyed the day and I highly recommend this fishing charter.
