Gatun Lake is home to many different fish species like Ladyfish, Cubera Snapper, Snook, Tarpon, Needlefish, Peacock Bass, Tilapia, Jack Crevalle, White Seabass, Tigerfish, and more, depending on the season.
During the trip, PFT is going to show all the different fishing techniques that we use for fishing, such as spinning, popping, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized like fly fishing!! That we use for fish in the area!
Your trip begins aboard on boat that holds up to 4 passengers design for sportfishingtrip . It has all the essentials equipment, trolling motors, gps, fishfinder, Bluetooth audio system, spot satellital communicator.
Their tacklebox has more than 400 lures for you. Live bait is always onboard.
It’s recommended to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
Drinks, beers and bottled water are included, free of charge. There will be food and some light snacks for you on board.

Holy WOW! Sooooo many fish!
Capt Rene is top-notch! I can’t recommend taking a fishing trip with Capt Rene enough!!! Extremely nice man, bi-lingual English & Spanish and he genuinely wants to make sure you have a great time! Everything from the boat to the fishing tackle worked perfectly. Capt Rene was on top of every need and kept live bait on my hook constantly. We were catching fish within 15 mins of reaching the fishing spot! He has a remote controlled trolling motor which made it easy to stay right where we needed to be. I literally lost track of how many fish I caught. Small, medium and large peacock bass 👍

4 Hour Trip – Gatun Lake (AM)
The Best Lake Gatun Trip
I booked a 4hr Lake Gatun trip with Rene at Fishing Bookers. As soon as I booked it (45 days in advance), Capt Rene reached out through the app to answer questions and to find out what type of fishing experience I wanted. I opted for a trip focusing on peacock bass, snook, and tilapia. I also wanted to see the monkeys that populate some of the small lake islands. I needed transportation from Panama City to the boat launch in Gamboa. He provided assurance that this would be a great trip. Today (4/25), he arrived early for pickup and got to the boat with no problems. The ride out to the fishing spots was very scenic and he gave some quick tips on fishing with his lures and live bait. He knows what he’s doing. We caught at least 15 peacock bass and 4 snook. We then went to the small islands where we saw three types of monkeys up close (howlers, tamarins, and capuchins). The capuchins even got on the boat to get a late breakfast of peanuts that we had on hand. The trip back was easy. We arrived back at our Panama City hotel at 10:45a with the whole day ahead of us. I could not provide a stronger recommendation to use Capt Rene.

Awesome Fishing Experience!
My husband and I as well as our 2 sons, 11 and 13, all had a lot of fun fihing on the lake! We all caught lots of peacock bass and also some oscar fishes. Captain stopped at the monkey island at our request. He was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We felt well taken care of, with drinks and peanut for the monkeys. Highly recommend this company.

Afternoon fishing
We started an afternoon fishing by trolling next to the bridge - the first fish (Peacock Bass) was caught after 10 min 😊. The rest of the day was very exiting fishing with different lures. It was fun to see with your own eyes how the fish bites the lure in front of you, close to the boat.

Hooked up a 30" snook!!
Had a great time. Tried jigging, trolling, top water lures, and trolling. Great day overall. I would definitely book again if we visit again. Great personality, kind, patient, charismatic. Took time to educate in the right way. Great with my wife and son. Don't hesitate to book!
