If you’re ready to try fishing in Marathon, we’ve got you covered with Southern Sons Charters. Captain Josh will be your guide, which allows you to benefit from years of sportfishing experience.
Depending on the season, you might hook into Cobia, Mahi Mahi, Black Grouper, Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, Scamp Grouper, Sailfish, Mangrove Snapper, Mutton Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, and whatever else takes the bait. On these trips, it’s common to troll and bottom fish using light tackle.
Capt. Josh will bring you aboard a 38’ Fountain center console that holds up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
A 20–25% tip is customary to show your appreciation for the Capts hard work.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish. It’s recommended to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Awesome day!
Captain Josh is the most straight up and honest guide I have ever booked, bar none. He didn't waste time riding around hoping to find fish, he put us on fish! I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to put meat in the cooler when fishing the Florida Keys.

Southern Son Charter
We are from Oregon and are normal fishing for Chinook Salmon. I had a blast with my wife and brother fishing and catching Mahi for our 1st time. We also caught Barracuda. Cptn Josh was professional and friendly. He takes good care of his boat. It is clean and comfortable. I highly recomend Southern Son Charters.

Great Afternoon with SouThern Sons!
Captain Josh was fantastic! From the super nice equipment to the fish. We were on Blackfin Tuna from the jump on the Hump. Caught fish all afternoon and landed our last tuna just as it was time to head back in. The boat ride in was relaxing and a great way to end the day with some good music to boot. We are already planning our return and next outing with Josh. Thank you for the Poke recipe. We were eating our fresh catch before the sun was down. And Go Vols!

Great Trip!
Captain Josh and first mate Pops were fantastic! Took us to the hump where we caught some Blackfin Tuna and then did a deep drop. They showed us novice deep sea fishermen everything we needed to know to catch a bunch of fish! Highly recommend!!

Taters with gravy!!
Great time with Capt. Josh, mani-mahi hitting it hard and took some nice fish, about 16 from 22 inches to 28 inches. Finishing it off with mangrove snapper about 10. See you after the first of the year, Capt. Josh.👍
