If you’re ready to love fishing in Marathon, we’ve got you covered with 5th Generation Fishing. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Cole knows them forwards and back.
These waters are known for Amberjack, Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Blue Marlin, African Pompano Jack, and more – with any luck, you’ll hook into a few!
You’ll target your catch by spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Cole can also help you try kite fishing. For the more adventurous among you, there’s spearfishing and bowfishing.
If you’re traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are never a bad idea so that nobody gets cranky on an empty stomach!
Your boat for the day is a 29’ SeaVee center console that holds up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, along with lures. Live bait is included, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. It’s customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for some fishing! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain.
Don’t forget to bring sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
5th Generation Fishing will make it easy for you to go fishing in Marathon. So, how about booking that trip?
