Raven Fishing Adventures
Year-round salmon and crab fishing within a one-hour drive from downtown Victoria!! Experience a Salmon fishing charter like no other! Fish and sightsee in comfort aboard my beautifully maintained, spacious classic 40' retired commercial fishing vessel, 'Raven'. Ideal for family or group outings (up to 6 persons) or the most diehard and serious anglers.
Make an adventure out of your next trip to Sooke or Victoria. No need to feel rushed or to get up early, Raven does one leisurely trip per day, usually with a late morning departure, and if you are lucky, it could be you!
Skipper Al Crow will be your guide, allowing you to benefit from his more than 45 years of commercial and recreational fishing experience. Al is highly regarded among his peers as one of the most friendly, knowledgeable, and successful sports fishermen on the South Island.
As well as being an experienced mariner and fisherman, Al is also an extraordinary marine naturalist and can answer all your questions about the area's marine life and natural history as you ply the biologically diverse and near-pristine shorelands of Vancouver Island's southernmost tip, where a typical trip often includes Whale and/or Sea Lion sightings.
From November to April, the Winter Chinook fishing is steady, and the crabbing is excellent. May to September is prime time for large Summer Chinook, Coho, and Pink Salmon, while September and October offer fantastic Fall Coho fishing. Every trip offers spectacular scenery and something for everyone.
All fish processing is included, and if you like, Al will set out the crab traps so you can enjoy some fresh Dungeness Crab.
Those planning to fish in your group will need to purchase a local fishing license (one-day licenses are available). For those planning on spectating, a licence is not required. This information is available online: Google 'BC Tidal Water Sports Fishing Licence' and follow the prompts.
Make your next fishing trip a memorable one. :)

Make sure you book this fishing excursion when you are in Sooke!!!! Captain Allan and his first mate Bob gave a fantastic and authentic fishing experience for our family! We caught numerous salmon and crab for a feast of kings. Between Allan's knowledge of the tides, wildlife and history of the island and Bob's humour and patience with our fishing ability, we learned so much about fishing on the Pacific ocean and the use of down-rigger..What an experiemce! Fish stories to be told for a long time! Thanks to Allan and Bob for a wonderful day on the water! Grateful to have met you both. Pam
Thank you for the kind words, Pamela. It was a beautiful day, and it was our pleasure to have you, Andi, Ian and Melissa aboard. Come back and visit us again soon, you know where to find us. -Allan :)
Allan was great with communication throughout the entire booking and even before the booking by answering all of our questions. He was flexible with timing and was prepared for our arrival. We set crab traps and got plenty of fish with nice rods and lures. His mate Bob was very helpful and made for a pleasant trip. We had a relaxing time and soaked in the sun on the upper deck while they cleaned and cut the fish/crab. It was a lovely day on the water with lots of space on the boat. Would recommend!
Al and Bob were great. We are a family of 4 and we did 1/2 day of sightseeing. which did not disappoint. We saw lots of wildlife from eagles, seals, seal lions, and a humpback's. after the sightseeing we transitioned to fishing when both kids caught some Rock fish and a Sol. Al was very knowledgeable about the area as he has been fishing these waters his whole life. I highly recommend hom as your captain if you are looking for an un rushed authentic fishing experience
Thank you for the kind words, Jeremiah. It was my pleasure taking you and the family out for an eventful day on the water. I'm glad the weather cooperated, and we were able to make it down to Race Rocks and see the sights. It was a beautiful day, and I hope you had a nice crab dinner. Come back and visit us during the late Summer or early Fall, it won't disappoint. Cheers -Allan :)

We had an amazing day out on the water with captain Allan and his helper Bob. They were both so down to earth, knowledgeable, and accomodating. With their help, we caught 15 fish altogether (4 good sized chinook keepers) so it was a pretty action packed day! We went home with two big bags of salmon and a bag full of fresh crab. Captain Allan even fileted the fish for us. One of the members in our group gets sea sick on boats usually and expected to have to take gravol on this trip but with the stabilizers on the Raven, he didnt get sick at all! Overall, we had a 10/10 experience and will definitely be back again! You wont regret booking your fishing trip with Captain Allan!
Allan and his crew created a perfect day of winter fishing, catching about 12 salmon (three great keepers), two full crab traps, as he taught us so much about all aspects of fishing, the marine life and land, and so much more...we could talk to him for hours. Allan is extremely kind and patient and very good with young kids. I was worried about taking our boys fishing in the winter as it's supposed to be slow out there, but we had double headers constantly and never had a dull moment. Allan has a great network of friends in other boats telling him exactly where the salmon are and what to use to catch them, one of his friends out there even gave us one of their large salmon, as a gift. His boat was large and warm, with a stove running and had a quiet upstairs to relax too. All around a perfect experience.
