Welcome to Sooke Salmon Charters! They’ve been offering quality guided fishing since 1986, with lifelong local fishing expert Rollie Rose. He’s a local with over 50 years of experience fishing in these waters. Specializing in light tackle fishing for trophy Chinook Salmon, Capt. Rollie will take you on a trip you’ll always remember. The trips are available year round, so you choose when your adventure starts.

You’ll be fishing on a clean and safe, West Coast built boat that accommodates up to 4 guests. This 25’ Seasport comes powered by a 200 HP Yamaha engine, navigational electronics, a galley, and a private toilet.

We are fully compliant with Transport Canada’s requirements for the work we do.  We also carry the proper liability insurance.  All charter vessels should have a boat registration number displayed beginning with a C which stands for commercial.

During the summer months, the boat is berthed in Sooke Harbour and all trips depart from the docks there. From November to May, you can follow local fish runs between Sooke, Victoria, and Sidney.  Rollie will arrange to meet you at the docks in those areas closest to the best fishing at the time.

Fish are cleaned and bagged for shipment free of charge. Fish processing is available for a reasonable cost, including on site vacuum packing. There’s a professional grade chamber sealer and use 4 mil bags for maximum storage life in your freezer. The prices below included taxes.

Vacuum packing requires that the fish be left overnight to be processed and frozen. They also carry shipping supplies to transport on your flight home (coolers, ice pack, tape).

All fishing equipment and bait are included, as well as coffee, bottled water, and sodas. Fishing licenses are now only available online. You can buy your licenses anytime prior to your trip. They must be printed off to paper copies and then brought with you on the day you fish.

Captain Rollie is experienced and funny!
Half Day Trip – Salmon (AM) on May 14, 20262 adults2 children

We had a great time cruising the waters, taking in the scenery and enjoying the stories. Fishing was slow going at first, but we hit a couple big ones near the end and scores a bucket full of crab- making for a very gourmet camp site dinner that night! Thank you to Captain Rollie for this special family memory and first ocean fishing trip with our boys!!!

Reported catch:
Chinook Salmon
Response from Captain

I'm happy my plan for the day worked and that you enjoyed your fresh salmon dinner. Still embarressed about the little mess up back at the cleaning table!!! First time and last time.😊

3/4 Day Trip – Halibut on July 30, 20252 adults

Captain Rollie is a professional fisherman. He communicated well, had a well- equipped spotless boat and got us our quota of salmon. He worked nonstop. We would definitely hire Captain Rollie again.

Trip of a lifetime
Full Day Trip – Salmon on October 11, 20244 adults

We fished with capt Rollie about 2 months ago and had such a great time that when a second opportunity came along, we didn't hesitate. This trip was even better. We targeted Coho because the chinooks were not in season. The action was fast a furious and the coho were big. October is a great month to get the big ones in the sooke area. There were only a couple boats out there and the action was hot. We limited out and are now well stocked for our journey back to the caribbean. Just want to close by saying that captain Rollie is the absolute best guide. He's got years of experience and knows exactly what to do. He's also extremely funny, had us laughing all day. Extremely enjoyable experience. Book with him folks, you won't be sorry.
