We had an absolutely incredible experience fishing with Zak in Lake Placid! We had our three boys with us—our 9-year-old and twin 8-year-olds—and Zak was phenomenal with all of them from start to finish. The boys had an absolute blast exploring the beaver dams, seeing all the wildlife, and, of course, trolling for the BIG fish! We caught a bunch, and their excitement was unforgettable. Zak has an incredible amount of knowledge and truly knows the area, but what impressed us just as much was how wonderful he was with the kids. He was patient, encouraging, enthusiastic, and made sure everyone was having fun. Zak is also just an absolute joy to spend time with—so friendly, personable, and easy to talk to. He has a way of making the entire experience fun and exciting for everyone, regardless of age or experience level. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better family experience. The boys are still talking about our time with Zak, and we will absolutely be back the next time we’re in Lake Placid. If you’re looking for a fishing guide, especially with kids, we cannot recommend Zak highly enough!
Zac was an incredible guide and host giving my family of 5 a day we will never forget. His disposition is warm, welcoming and comforting. He is a SAINT with kids - such patience and such attention given to making sure they had the best time. His knowledge of lake placid and the wildlife and history is impressive to say the least and really added to the quality of our experience. He knew how to pivot when some light rain rolled over the lake and kept us comfortable and smiling all day. My kids didn’t want the trip to end even after 4 hours!! I cannot praise him enough and we are grateful for such a special and fun experience! Thank you Zac - we can’t wait to come back!!
Let me start off by saying I’ve worked on boats and fished professionally on both charter and private boats for over 25yrs for a living. Zach is a master of the craft, you dont get any better, I was beyond impressed. He goes out of his way to make sure you have a memorable experience and he truly cares that you do. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my family, especially my son. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
My son and I booked an evening fishing trip with Zac on July 7. Sarah was responsible for the booking details and she was quick to respond to answering all questions with clarity, patience, and kindness. Zac greeted us with a warm, welcoming smile and asked our goals for the fishing trip. He made my son, who was new to fishing, feel very comfortable by letting him know that it was okay to get a line snagged, lose a lure, or break something. His calm demeanor and engaging personality set my son up to succeed. Zac got a feel for who we were and then personalized the trip to us. We had the good fortune of seeing loons and a bald eagle family. He poured as much knowledge as he could into us of how and where to fish, different techniques and lures as well as driving the boat and boat safety. My son caught a lot of fish and his smile and excitement was priceless. Zac generously gave my son one of his fishing poles to use while we were in the area. He is a walking encyclopedia of Lake Placid and its beauty and history. Zac is more than a fishing guide. He is a conservationist, a steward of the lake and region, a mentor to young kids wanting to learn about fishing and boating, and one of the best teachers I have ever seen. His love of his hometown was evident and contagious. I recommend Zac to anyone from beginning fishermen to expert anglers as well as nature enthusiasts. We were so lucky to have Zac share his little piece of heaven with us.
Captain Zach was a perfect captain. He had my nine year old using a spinner reel in no time flat. He was catching fish on his first cast and by the time the two hours was up he was casting, setting, reeling, catching, unhooking, and setting the fish lose all by himself. On top of the fish in a barrel locations that he knew, he was also well in tune with the environment in and around the lake. He's fishing this lake for the right reasons, and he is definitely the type of captain I want to give my money to. Top notch trip, could not recommend him highly enough, dude is definitely the best.
