These waters are known for Amberjack, Red Grouper, Gag Grouper, Grunt, Almaco Jack, African Pompano Jack, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Redfish, Gray Triggerfish, Black Seabass, and more – with any luck, you'll hook into a few! During the trip you might be spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! The charter supplies life vests.
You'll be dropping lines from a 26' MayCraft center console with room for 4 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, and everything you need for a productive day on the water.
Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait when available is provided. You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
You can't go wrong when you bring sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water and snacks. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Great trip

We had such a great time out there! It was one of those trips where everything just clicked. We were catching black bass, grunts, and even some Spanish mackerel which made it so much fun.
The captain was super easygoing but clearly knew exactly what he was doing, and that made the whole experience even better. It never felt rushed, just a really laid-back, good day on the water.
Definitely one of those trips you leave already wanting to book again. We’ll for sure be back!

Great fishing trip for our 4 year old

My 4.5 yo son and I went out with Captain Billy recently and had a great time! My son is just starting to get into fishing, and Captain Billy was so nice and patient with him--he has a grandson about the same age, and it certainly shows. We caught a lot of fish, which was great for reinforcing my son's love of the sport. And one of the major highlights for my kid was that captain Billy let him steer the boat, which he hasn't stopped talking about since. We'll certainly go back out with him when we are back down in Ocean Isle, and hopefully my younger son can tag along in future years. Thanks so much for all of the memories.

Captain Billy was amazing! We did the 2 hour kid charter as a first introduction to fishing on a boat for my 4 year old. Billy was amazing in how he worked with my son and he delivered on every request that my son made. He went the extra mile, including educating my son on features of each fish that we caught (pin, croaker, and blacktip shark, which was exactly what my son asked for).
We are already checking schedules to see when we can get back to the coast and book with Captain Billy again, for a 4 hour charter.

Captain Billy was excellent! We had 4 kids and 2 adults, captain managed us very well and was a pleasure to chat with. Fishing was hard, so hot! Water temps at 88 degrees. But we were able to catch a few Spanish mackerel then we were able to get the kids bottom fishing and catching something every time the bait hit the bottom! Didn’t get to keep much but a solid win and the again I can’t impress how well he managed us with that many kids! We will be back!
