We will target the largest alligator gar possible and catch and release as many as possible without harming them. They are a world class sportfish that can put up outstanding fights. We will use bait and lure to catch them some days we can land over 40 gar.

These waters are known for giant Alligator Gar and an abundance of Texas fish species – with any luck, it won't take long to hook into several. You will utilize high end Shimano reels and the best electronics available to target these fish on both bait and lures.
Any Alligator Gar you catch will be tagged and released.
Capt. Henry is happy to have kids aboard, so get 'em offline and onto the water! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks, drinks and food! Children under 13 years of age are required to wear a life jacket whenever the boat is underway.
Your adventure begins aboard a top of the line 18' Sea Ark jet boat for 3 passengers. It comes with everything you need for a productive day on the water. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures and bait.
You will need to get a local fishing license before the trip for clients over 18 years old. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain.
All gar species will be released unharmed
Don't leave home without rain gear, sunglasses, sun protection, and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

This is some of the best fishing I have ever experienced. I was fortunate enough to book a 6 hour trip where my buddy and I caught 3 alligator gar all over 5 feet including a 7 footer roughly 160 lbs. The boat was comfortable, the guiding and knowledge was awesome, and the care for these dinosaurs was great too. It was an all-around great day and I appreciated the communication and flexibility to work around any issues that came up. I will, for sure, be back next time I make it to Texas.
This was on my bucket list of fishing trips. I live in the mountains in Colorado so no where near these amazing fish. So after doing my research I decided on catching dinosaurs. Not only does he get you into fish but also shared similar values that I do when it comes to conservation and treatment of fish! No such thing as a trash fish! Last minute he contacted me saying his boat was down and he had arranged his buddy Kyle to guide us. At first it had me worried as I did the research because I wanted the best. But it turns out his buddy Kyle was actually thefishwhisperer1 who I have consumed videos of on Instagram. He also holds the same values and definitely knows his stuff. He got my buddy and I into a lot of gators over 5ft and when I asked if we could target a long nose as well he got us to the spot and put on the right lure because I got one of those too. Which was awesome considering the last time I had an opportunity for a longnose I broke off haha. So weather you get to fish with Henry or Kyle just know you're gonna have a great trip! Highly recommended these guys
My son and I had the pleasure of fishing with Henry yesterday and it was an amazing trip. Caught big Alligator Gar all day using a variety of techniques. All gar released. Lost track of the number of fish we caught. I estimate it was at least 40 that were boated. Henry is super knowledgeable, easy to take instructions from, and is quick to help. I am going to fish with him again for sure.
Henry is a wealth of information. A natural resource himself who can talk as nauseam about one of the oldest, coolest, misunderstood species of fish on the planet while you catch them. Heroic guide!
This full day trip with Henry Martin of Catching dinosaurs was an awesome trip, we caught over 30 alligator gar, with 4 of them being over the 6 foot, 100 lb mark. Henry uses methods of fishing that ensure safety for the fish, and also goes out of his way to explain any safety measures about his boat and the giant fish you will be catching. 10/10 great trip thanks Henry
