If you’re going to cast a line in Galveston, look no further than HCR Offshore Adventures.
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Amberjack, Black Drum, Mahi Mahi, Flounder, Redfish, Sheepshead, Red Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, and whatever else takes the bait.
You’ll target your catch by light tackle fishing, trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. For the more adventurous among you, there’s bowfishing.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that everyone stays happy and energized!
Your excursion begins aboard a 32’ Sportsman center console with space for 6 passengers. It has outriggers, all the essentials. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Captains have rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
You will need to buy a Texas fishing license before the trip. These can be bought at Walmart or sporting good stores. You may buy online from Texas Parks and Wildlife if you are going to catch and release only. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It’s never a bad idea to bring a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
