Fish Hatteras
Fish Hatteras is your ticket to the stunning waters of Hatteras. Your guide for the day is Captain Wes, which allows you to benefit from years of local experience.
Depending on conditions, you might hook into Cobia, Redfish, Speckled Trout, Spotted Seatrout, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Sheepshead, Blacktip Shark, Black Seabass, Gray Triggerfish, Red Snapper, and anything else that bites. Depending on the species you're after, you may find yourself spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Wes also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Capt. Wes welcomes children aboard, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites to stay fueled throughout your trip!
You'll be casting lines from a 25' Southern Cross center console that holds up to 4 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, along with lures. Live bait is included if that is the technique required for the trip.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for a good time! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.
Don't forget to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

We booked a trip with Captain Wes on the Fish Hatteras this July and it exceeded expectations. We started off trolling for Spanish mackerel, and my son landed the biggest one of the day. From there we headed into the sound near the inlet for some Bluefish. It didn't take long before we found them, the seagulls gave away where the fish were feeding and pushing the bait fish to the surface (Captain Wes showed us that trick). Once we were on them it was nuts, everyone was hooked up, there were so many, you could watch them darting under the boat. After getting our fill of Bluefish, we went in search of Sharks. We chummed for a bit without luck, but Wes got on the radio with other captains, found out sharks had been spotted nearby, and ran us right to them. We hooked into a spinner shark and it took off the second it felt the hook, it was a real fight to bring in. A hammerhead even cruised by while we were reeling it in. Wes clearly knows these waters and knows how to keep a trip full of action, which makes all the difference with kids aboard. Highly recommend, and we'll be booking with him again next time we're in Hatteras.

Thanks so much for the review Aaron! Enjoyed fishing with yall
Wes is the best! Got us on some bluefish in the first hour. He maneuvered the boat and got lures in the water….kept us safe in some rough water and got fish in the boat. This Midwesterner couldn’t hack the rough seas so we checked out calmer water. Saw several dozen dolphins next to the boat and caught a glimpse of a large sand tiger shark. Finished the morning wading the Sound for shells and sand dollars. Great memories with my 2 daughters and something we’ll talk about forever.

Thanks so much for the review Chris! Glad yall had a good time

Captain Wesley keeps a very clean boat. The second we stepped foot on board it was clear that he pays attention to detail. He was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. He worked nonstop to make sure that all lines kept fresh baits and had us on Fish in no time. I’ve been on many guided trips in this area… captain Wesley did not disappoint. We would highly recommend him to anybody.

Thanks so much for the review Paul I really appreciate it! Enjoyed fishing with yall

We booked an am trip. Captain Wes was early getting the boat set for us. We started out to the first couple spots they were hit or miss. We caught a couple sheephead. Then he thought to check out one more spot before we headed in. I am glad we did. It was a honey hole we got a bunch of nice size fish and my son got 2 worth a citation. ( a award for fish) . One was 10 lbs and the other was 8.7. I couldn't of asked for a better day. Thank you for the trip out. I would highly recommend.

Thanks so much for the review Conrad! really enjoyed fihinf with tou and your son.

Yesterday’s fishing trip (10/702025) was a standout experience. The boat captain was fastidious in every sense—his vessel was spotless, and he kept it that way throughout the day, scrubbing away blood and grime the moment he had a chance. He was talkative, sharp, and attentive, never waiting for things to happen but always anticipating the next move. Fishing this time of year can be hit or miss, and we knew that going in. But the captain didn’t leave it to chance—he coordinated with other captains, exchanged advice, and stayed in touch throughout the day to help put everyone on the fish. That kind of teamwork made a difference. It was a slow bite, but still productive: we caught a couple of perfect-sized red drum for eating and several bluefish, including a solid 28-inch specimen. By the end, we had more fish than we could eat in a few days. Between the pristine boat, the captain’s energy, and the collaborative spirit on the water, it was a trip that hit all the marks. Captain Wes is a winner!

Thanks very much for the review Al! I really appreciate it and I enjoyed fishing with you and your son!
