Description

Fish the flats and backcountry for a wide variety of delicious and rewarding inshore species with Captain David of Strippin Lips Charters. Fishing aboard a 17 ft Pathfinder poling skiff, you will have access to areas other boats can’t get to, giving you the upper hand when looking to catch a trophy fish in Ormond, Florida.

The boat is fully equipped for fishing, with trim tabs for a more comfortable and fuel efficient ride and a Stiffy push pole to allow the captain to guide you silently through the area’s shallow waterways. There is also a 70 lbs thrust autopilot trolling motor fitted to the boat, as well as a six foot Powerpole anchoring system, essential for the most effective inshore fishing. With a draft of just five inches, this boat is ideal for getting to the shallowest of waters.

The captain will happily design your trip to fit in with your desires, whether you want to fish the hidden shallow waterways for Redfish, Snook, Trout, and Flounder, hit the Halifax river to fish the docks, sandbars, drop offs, and small bays, try your luck on the fly, or fish slightly further out for Tarpon. His excellent knowledge of the area and enthusiastic attitude will make sure this is a fishing trip to remember.

About the Captain

David Caruthers
Ormond Beach, Florida, United States
Member since April 2016
Captain David is a native Floridian who comes from a family of people who are passionate about spending time on the water. Over the years he has explored his love of the water, spending many years fishing offshore from a 57 ft sportfisher, as well as learning everything he can about the inshore waterways from Tomoka State Park to the Mosquito Lagoon first from a kayak, and then from a poling skiff. Nowadays he enjoys sharing his love both for inshore fishing and fishing offshore with his clients aboard his two boats, a 17 ft Pathfinder and a 22 ft Andros.

This was our second trip with Captain Dave, but our first Backwater experience.  It was incredible.  Watched the sun come up, it was beautiful in the backwaters.  Captain Dave pointed out so many things we would of never noticed including Manatee, porpoise, wild pigs, a variety of Birds,  and even an Eagles next.
Fishing was awesome, we caught several Redfish, and trout.  The highlight was the Tarpon, just watching them was awesome, we had them all around us.  We had several hits, and finally was able to land one.
Captain Dave did an excellent job.  We can’t wait to go again!
