King Tide Fishing Charters offers first-class, fully guided fishing trips departing from our private dock in Sooke, BC, just minutes from some of the most productive Salmon and Halibut fishing grounds on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
The 24' River Hawk Pro Cuddy is the most versatile boats in our fleet, built for serious West Coast fishing while offering the comfort many guests are looking for. With a fully enclosed heated cabin, premium electronics and power, top of the line fishing equipment this boat is ideal for all-season trips, families, first-timers, and experienced anglers chasing trophy fish.
We fish the productive waters of the Juan de Fuca Strait for Chinook (King) Salmon year-round, with seasonal opportunities for Coho Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod, Rockfish, and Dungeness Crab. Depending on the season, you may also encounter Pink, Chum, and Sockeye Salmon.
You’ll fish legendary local hotspots from Otter Point, Secretary Island, Trap Shack, Beecher Bay and many more, often seeing humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, bald eagles, seals, and sea lions along the way.
At the end of your trip, we return to our private dock where your catch is expertly cleaned and filleted, ready to take home.

5 Hour Trip – Salmon (AM) on September 7, 2026 • 2 adultsGreat morning on the water with Captain Shane. The coho and chinook were biting and definitely a lucky day with even a double-header! Topped it off with a bunch of crabs which we kept a couple Dungeness and a Red Rock to steam for dinner. Captain Shane was great, moving us between spots and testing mid-depth, then moving to deeper for us to find the Chinook. Great chatting with him and learning about the area and all the animals and fish in the area. Thanks!

8 Hour Trip – Salmon on April 13, 2026Had an awesome day salmon fishing in Sooke, BC aboard the Hawk—seriously the perfect boat for these waters. Smooth ride, tons of space, and handled the conditions like a champ. We were into salmon early and stayed on the bite most of the trip. Nothing beats that moment when the rod loads up and the reel starts screaming. Landed some beautiful fish and lost a couple that definitely kept things exciting. Captain Shane knew exactly where to go and kept everything running effortlessly. Super professional but still laid-back and fun—made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for a solid salmon charter in Sooke, highly recommend getting out on the River Hawk. Can’t beat it.

2 Hour Trip – Salmon Dusk Bite on May 27, 2026 • 4 adultsWe had a group of 4 who had little to no experience. Captain Shane gave clear instructions and helpful tips. It was super nice out on the water and we were all enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery. We caught 2 large Chinook Salmon and a small Lingcod which I feel is pretty good for only 2 hours out on the water. Would definitely book again! If I were to do it again I might even book a longer expedition but 2 hours was the perfect amount of time to see what it was like. 10/10

My wife and three young boys all came and Captain Shane made sure everyone caught fish. He even let the kids throw a crab trap on the way out and helped them pull up so many crabs on the way back in. Captain Shane was a wealth of knowledge and experience. He guided our group of five to a successful salmon catch, and we also enjoyed a bountiful crab harvest at the trip's end. Unfortunately, our son fell ill during the eight-hour excursion, but Shane helped us transport him to a different port so other family members could pick him up. I highly recommend him for anyone seeking a fishing adventure in the Pacific around BC. Thank you again for creating lasting memories.
