Fish Whisperer Charters was created with the novice angler and family quality time in mind while also catering to experienced anglers. Our mission is simple: 'Ensure a memorable & safe experience for all onboard & pay forward what we learn, securing the future of the sport & our environment.'
You will be fishing with the owner and operator, Captain Kris Kell, a USCG licensed, fully insured, and seasoned mariner with 24 years of experience as a U.S. Navy officer. He has fished the Mayport Jetties since 1990 and the Jacksonville regional waters for more than 20 years. Decades of honing his entertainment skills during middle of night watches/duties in the Navy will certainly make for a fun day on the water! He has more than 20 years of direct experience regarding safety on the water, navigation, and seamanship, so you can rest assured you'll be in good hands.
The boat you will fish from is a 2020 Sheaffer 240v with a 300HP Yamaha motor. It's very versatile in that it allows you to get into areas with a couple of feet of water in creeks, troll offshore/nearshore, or bottom-fish reefs/wrecks for a variety of species depending on the season. The 112lbs thrust trolling motor enables you to get to places that would otherwise be extremely difficult using an anchor and the mobility is priceless. There is a large cooler onboard with ice, all required safety equipment, including a satellite phone and EPIRB, and premium tackle consisting mostly of Avet® reels, St. Croix®, Crowder®, and Tsunami® rods, and Powerpro SS8V2® line.
Trips include all fishing gear, bait, fishing licenses, and fish cleaning with fillets bagged for you, and bottled water. The Captain will also supply you with photos of your day's adventures. The idea of this fishing charter reaches further than landing fish, though, because it is an avenue through which camaraderie is built and memories are created.

My family’s first off shore fishing experience did not disappoint! Caught king macrel , grouper, seabass and red fish. My 10 year old had the time of his life reeling in these massive fish with Captain Kris. His boat was clean, well equipped with safety, medical, life jackets and water. He was great with teaching my son. Very happy positive vibes here. Kris was also very patient with my ornary mother, lol. Thank you. I recommend The Fish Whisperer to anyone looking for a safe, knowledgeable, family friendly fishing charger. If you’ve never been out before I highly recommend taking the Dramamine though.
You guys did a magnificent job on your first offshore trip! I know it’s like drinking through a firehose with the amount of information out there but Matthew had a smile the whole time. Hope the fish tasted great and btw, your mother was perfectly fine with me 😄! Fair winds & followimg seas.
Kris took my two sons, my little brother, and I offshore for some fishing we had a great time, caught some fish, and spent majority of the time laughing till our sides were hurting. Next time I get the opportunity I'll definitely be using Kris as my charter captain.
We had a great trip with Captain Kris. He kept us moving and made sure everyone had a good time and caught fish. We went out on a day that many others didn't see success but we came home with fish in the cooler. Would recommend any part of 4 or less, this is your guy.

We had an absolutely amazing day with Captain Kris. We caught some live bait shortly after leaving the dock and headed out approximately 20mi. Weather and seas were great. First drop and we were catching Black Sea Bass, Triggerfish and Red Snapper. After the Sea Bass slowed we moved to another spot. Caught some Vermillion Snapper, Triggerfish, and more Red Snapper. Decided to hit one more spot. Caught Greater Amberjack, Gag Grouper, Red Snapper and a 6’ Sandbar Shark. I probably forgot some species we caught, but we had so much fun. We are still talking about the trip. Kris was a great captain. He was fun to fish with, he kept us entertained and kept us catching fish. Still sore 2 days later from catching fish! I will definitely book with Kris again!!!
You guys killed it Jeff! Lots of fish, fun, and smack-talk on the boat that day. Wish you boys the best and fair winds/following seas!

For me, fishing was a chance as a child to bond with my father, grandfather, and family friends. Competition, the excitement of pulling up a fish not knowing what it may be sometimes, and spending time with my own family on the water has given me nothing but positive memories. As time went on, I began to feel more gratified by putting other people on fish and teaching them something that would help them create their own memories.
