Excited to cast a line in Tamarindo? Tamarindo Surf & Tours is your ticket! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain David knows them forwards and back.
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Amberjack, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Goliath Grouper, African Pompano Jack, Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Pompano, Rainbow Runner, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Cubera Snapper, and anything else that bites.
On these trips, it’s common to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Also remember to bring snacks to maintain your energy throughout the trip!
Capt. David will bring you aboard a 35' Sportfishing that can carry up to 8 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience.
You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
Before coming aboard, it may be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's never a bad idea to bring sunblock (non-spray), sunglasses, and bottled water. Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks included on board.
Now and then the fish might get away, but a day on the water never should. Time to make it happen, with Tamarindo Surf & Tours!
