Keepin It Reel Sportfishing – New London
Spend the day with Keepin It Reel Sportfishing and get hooked on fishing in New London!
These waters are known for Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Bluefin Tuna, and more – with any luck, you'll hook into a few!
On these trips, you can expect to see lots of sea life including but not limited to whales and dolphins! While we like to focus on jig and pop light tackle techniques for Bluefin Tuna, there are times we may need to troll. Although trolling is usually not our method of choice, it can be extremely effective and very exciting when multiple rods go off at the same time with large pelagics jumping out of the water to eat our baits!
Your excursion begins aboard a 33' Rampage sportfishing vessel with capacity for 6 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without.
Before coming aboard, you will need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's never a bad idea to bring sunscreen (non-spray), bottled water, and sunglasses. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Now's the time to experience fishing in New London for yourself, with Keepin It Reel Sportfishing!

I’ve been on multiple offshore tuna trips with Capt. Chris and Keepin it Reel throughout the 2024 & 2025 seasons. Most recently on 10/4/25. Always an excellent time. Capt. Chris and his mates run a top notch operation. Capt. Chris is knowledgeable and proficient on every style of tuna fishing. Capt. Chris works hard to put his clients on fish and makes sure they leave with a smile. Hope to see you again soon Capt.

Thanks so much Zack! always a pleasure!

★★★★★ Captain Chris from Keeping It Real Fishing Charter out of Connecticut delivered one of the best fishing trips I’ve ever experienced. From the moment we got lines in the water, it was nonstop tuna action. If you’re looking for incredible tuna fishing, this is the charter to book. Not only was the fishing amazing, but the entire trip was unforgettable. We were surrounded by incredible ocean wildlife — dolphins swimming alongside the boat and even whales in the distance. The scenery alone would have made the trip worth it, but the constant action made it even better. Captain Chris is extremely experienced and knowledgeable. He took the time to teach techniques, explain what we were doing, and make sure everyone was comfortable and involved. Whether you’re an experienced angler or it’s your first time tuna fishing, he makes sure you learn and have a great time. He had absolutely everything we needed on the boat — all the gear, equipment, and knowledge to make the trip successful — and somehow still offers some of the most affordable charter prices around. Landon, the first mate super helpful, fun to be around, and kept the energy high the entire trip. He made everything smooth and the whole experience even better. Between the nonstop action, amazing wildlife sightings, Captain Chris’s expertise, Landon’s great attitude, and the great price, this was easily a five-star experience. Highly recommend Keeping It Real Fishing Charter if you want an unforgettable tuna fishing trip.

thank you!!!! always a pleasure!
Nothing short of a well oiled machine on Keepin' It Reel. Captain Chris & crew do whatever it takes to put you on the fish. Whether you've been fishing for years or taking your kid out for the first time Chris is patient and more than willing to share tips and tricks to get it done. Both boats are up too date with nothing but the best gear and electronics and Chris and crew are great all around people both professionally and personally.

Thanks Bobby! always a blast!
Captain Chris Oliver is a lifelong Dutchess County resident who has been fishing the bountiful Hudson River since the age of five. What began as a childhood pastime quickly grew into a true passion, especially for targeting the powerful striped bass that migrate through the river each season. As he grew older, that passion only intensified. Captain Chris purchased his first boat and began running fishing charters as soon as he earned his captain's license. Over time, what started as a love for fishing evolved into a full-time career on the water. Captain Chris has dedicated himself to understanding the behavior and migrations of Hudson River striped bass and continually refining techniques to successfully target them. Known for his hands-on approach and willingness to adapt, he is always studying the fishery, developing new methods, and sharing his knowledge with anglers of all experience levels. When the striped bass season winds down, Captain Chris transitions from the river to the offshore grounds, running to blue water in pursuit of yellowfin tuna, bigeye tuna, and bluefin tuna. His experience across both inshore and offshore fisheries allows him to stay on the water year-round and gives clients the opportunity to experience everything from light-tackle river fishing to true big-game battles in the ocean. His goal on every trip is simple: provide a safe, enjoyable experience and put clients on fish while teaching them skills they can use long after the trip ends.
