Apex Recon Sportfishing Charters delivers premium guided fishing experiences across Michigan waters aboard a fully equipped Warrior 238.

These waters are known for Bluegill, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), Northern Pike, Crappie, Yellow Perch, Walleye, and more. On these trips, it’s common to troll using light tackle, use slip bobbers, drop shots for panfish, and casting.

Apex Recon Sportfishing Charters welcomes kids aboard, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board or bring your a suitable life jacket for them. Don't forget to bring snacks to stay fueled throughout your trip!

You'll step aboard a 23' boat with capacity for 4 passengers. Can make accommodations to carry more, but 4 is comfortable. It comes with downriggers, and everything you need for a productive day on the water. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures.

There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.

You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.

It's always wise to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Apex Recon Sportfishing Charters will make it easy for you to go fishing in Montague. Will also consider custom trips to different bodies of water, such as Big Blue Lake, Stannard Rock in Lake Superior, Lake Superior, Detroit River, St. Clare River, Saginaw Bay, Muskegon Lake, Pentwater Lake, the list goes on.

Would be willing to switch species if the big lake is too rough.

An Unforgettable Day on the Water
Half Day Trip – Panfish (PM) on August 22, 20262 adults

We had such a wonderful experience fishing with Ryan! We were visiting Michigan from Colorado, and this fishing trip was especially meaningful to me because I was returning to the area where my grandfather grew up and spent so much of his life fishing. The weather did not cooperate with our original plans, but Ryan kept a close eye on the conditions, stayed in communication with us, and came up with a plan to get us out on the lake. He was incredibly accommodating! We caught a TON of fish, kept plenty to take home, and released plenty more. Ryan knew exactly where to take us, was patient and helpful, provided everything we needed, and made the whole afternoon relaxed and genuinely fun. Ryan went far beyond what we expected from a fishing guide. He is knowledgeable, kind, generous, safety-conscious, and clearly just genuinely enjoys getting people out on the water. When we come back in Montague, we will absolutely fish with him again. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Nothing like seeing you guys get to experience the rush of salmon fishing. I hope you and your brothers are hooked on fishing for life. Congrats on the 18 pound salmon!

Capt. Ryan runs trips out of Montague/Whitehall aboard 23' Warrior Sportfishing. This area is known for Yellow Perch, Chinook Salmon and Salmon and you'll get to catch them using spinning, trolling, jigging, or other techniques. The only way to learn is to join them on the water. I'm also an Air Force Veteran that loves to hear stories from other veterans.
