I’m Captain Tim Hyvonen, a multi species guide and charter captain.

In the spring I run float rod and fly fishing trips for steelhead in the rivers of Lake Michigan along with charter trips for coho salmon and brown trout.

Once the ice comes off the inland lakes I also runs trips for bluegills and crappies.

During the summer months I run charters for salmon and trout.

In the fall I target the big chinooks and cohos by either jigging with spinning rods or trolling.

Once the salmon move into the rivers I bring out the fly rods and target them using large streamers causing a reaction strike.

After the salmon die off the brown trout and steelhead move in where I target these fish with float rods, centerpins and fly rods.

During the winter I also run trips for pan fish and northern pike on various inland lakes.

I started fishing at a very early age and landed my first Brown trout out of the Root River at 5yrs old and I was hooked. After the past 25 years I have learned and created different techniques that have produced time and time again. After spending three years in the Coast Guard I came back home and started my guide service, WIFinlander Guide Service with a focus in spring time steelhead in the rivers of Lake Michigan. I spent a few years fishing with other tournament fisherman and other charter captains learing the ropes and in 2014, I bought my first boat and started trolling on Lake Michigan and did very well in my first Salmon A Rama out of my own boat. Since then I have continued to learn and progress and last fall I decided to embark on getting my Captains License. There is no better feeling than seeing the smile on someone's face who just caught either their first or biggest trout/salmon.
