Spend the day aboard with Johnny Maddox Charters and find out what the fishing in Marathon is all about!
Local species include King Mackerel (Kingfish), Cobia, Sailfish, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Red Grouper, Amberjack, Wahoo, Black Grouper, Great Barracuda, Skipjack Tuna, Mangrove Snapper, and more if conditions are right.
On these trips, it’s common to troll offshore and bottom fish on the Reef & Wrecks using light or heavy tackle.
You'll be casting lines from a Cobia 30’ Center console that holds up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience.
Capt. Johnny will supply rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but you should ask the captain what the dayz plans are.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate when needed. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
Before coming aboard, you wont need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don't forget to bring a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as no glass bottles.
How often would you rather be fishing? Go on and turn that day dream into a reality, with Johnny Maddox Charters.
