Reel Thang OBX

219 Thicket Lump Drive
Wanchese NC, United States

Reel Thang offers light tackle fishing trips on the Outer Banks and Oregon Inlet of North Carolina. The waters in and around Pamlico Sound are home to some of the nicest species. Reel Thang is located at Thicket Lump Marina on the south end of Roanoke Island in Wanchese.

The captain will take you out aboard a 22-foot Angler center console. This beauty comes powered by a single 150 HP Yamaha engine and has a maximum cruising speed of 30 knots. Perfect for accommodating up to four guests, the vessel is rigged with modern navigational electronics, safety equipment, and a live bait tank. There is a tower fitted to spot any action going on below the surface, which you may find particularly handy.

The season begins in mid June and goes through October. Fishing the Outer Banks in summer is an exciting opportunity to catch Redfish, Bass, Speckled Trout, Seatrout, Black Drum, Bluefish, Flounder, and Cobia.

When relaxing in between the bites, you will get an opportunity to take in the beautiful scenery of North Carolina. Kids are also welcome to join the adventure. There is nothing like seeing a smile on a child’s face after that very first catch!

For your fishing trip you will be provided with first-class light tackle, gear, bait, lures, and North Carolina Salt Water Fishing Licenses. If you decide to keep the catch, it will be cleaned and filleted for you at the end of the trip, ready to go home and jump straight into the frying pan. You can feel free to grab your favorite drinks and snacks.

Captain had good local knowledge of the area which enabled us catch fish from the onset, starting with bait catching before moving onto to target fish.
When bites dried up the captain was keen to try different locations to maximise our experience of fishing in the sound.
Definitely the best fishing trip we have been on, really felt like the captain wanted us to catch fish!!!

So we went for the half day trip and Captain worked really hard to find us some fish, because that is fishing. He also kept us out for another 2 hours since he did not have a second group to take.  We end up catching a bunch of fish because he never gave up.  Thanks .
