Moondance Charters Of Montauk and TUNA TIME invite you on a fishing extravaganza in the waters of Montauk, New York. Montauk is a fishing haven known for its excellent fishery and top boat captains. One of these top captains is Captain Sal Trapani. Captain Sal has fished the inshore and offshore waters of Montauk for over 35 years and is keen on showing you his favorite secret fishing spots.
Seahorse, the roomy and comfortable 35’ Bruno is the inshore boat. This is the boat we use for our inshore half and full day trips.
TUNA TIME is the new SeaVee tuna boat that cruises at 40 mph. Gets you tuna fishing in no time!
You will be offered full service on both vessels. Both vessels are fully equipped with all the USCG approved safety equipment such as life jackets, EPIRB, and a CPR-trained crew. You will also find all the navigational features needed to make your trip productive, and these features include a GPS, a radar, a marine radio, and a fishfinder.
Some of the species you can target on your inshore trip include the famous big Montauk Striped Bass, Fluke, Black Seabass, Tautog, Scup, Bluefish, and Shark.
If you venture further out on TUNA TIME you can expect to target Bluefin, and Yellowfin Tuna, for an experience you’ll never forget.
Captain Sal and his crew will provide you with the necessary fishing gear that includes rods, reels, tackle, live and artificial baits, a fishing license, and you’ll have a first mate on board, too.
They are able to take seasoned anglers out, but are also very good at teaching and are very patient with beginners. They love taking families with small children on the water and teaching them all about this amazing fishery that produces a wide variety of species.

We had an amazing fishing trip in Montauk with my two boys and my best friend. The captain and crew were the best! They were friendly, professional, and made the trip unforgettable. We caught plenty of fish and had a fantastic time. Highly recommend this charter!
We had a good time on the boat, but didn’t catch anything. We booked the trip two months in advance for a certain number of people, but when the day came, the captain informed us we were one too many for the fast boat, so we had to take the slower one. We also did the afternoon tuna trip, and didn’t get a bite. The captain said we should have done the morning, but that would have been nice to know in advance. The crew was gracious and attentive and gave us extra time on the water, but the experience was disappointing given no bites and changing of the boats
We had ana amazing time. Great crew!

- Live bait (Yes. When necessary we use live eels or live porgies to catch striped bass.)

- Catch cleaning & filleting (Cleaning and bagging your fish is free!)
- First mate (The customary tip for the first mate is 20% of the cost of the trip. So on a half day trip the tip would be $180. He will teach you anything you need to know. Make sure you are comfortable and safe at all times. Help you get your fish on board and fillet )
