If you are considering booking the 28ft cabin cruiser Marcela out of La Paz/Muertos Bay with Baja Mosquito Fleet, save your money and choose a different operator. Our experience was deeply frustrating from start to finish: Severe Pollution & Fumes: The boat is ancient, heavily polluting, and running on failing engines. One side spewed a dark oil-and-exhaust haze the entire time, filling the cockpit with a sickening diesel smell that caused severe headaches and nausea. Deafening Engine Noise: The engines are completely un-tuned and screaming at such a high-pitched whine that our ears were left ringing and sealing up long after stepping off the boat. Zero Safety Briefing: At no point did the crew show us where safety gear was located or go over any emergency procedures. Had an incident occurred, we had zero guidance on what to do. Bait Markups & Overpriced Lunch: We were charged an inflated $75 for bait (which local transport confirmed only costs a fraction of that), and charged $20 for a pathetic, basic dry sandwich with zero sides (no chips, fruit, or cookies). Bait-and-Switch Condition: The vessel is in vastly worse shape than the polished, outdated marketing photos on their listing suggest. Bookings through platforms like FishingBooker should guarantee a baseline of safety, honesty, and vessel maintenance. This charter missed the mark entirely. Do yourself a favor and book with a better maintained fleet.

We had an amazing outing. Jost and Lelo are fantastic guides and host. Very laid-back and fun and helpful with great English . Very experienced in their trade. They knew right where to go and we caught yellowtail tuna nonstop. Brought home over 13 fish in a few hours. great adventure - so fun to land.

Super accommodating. We wanted to catch some Dorado, then after we trolled for marlin/swordfish on our way back. caught 3 total. A delightful and productive day. Boat was large enough, with covered back deck, and captain and crew were a pleasure.

The post stated the charter was $750 for an all day trip - after fishing license ($25pp), $100 worth of lunch ($20pp), and a 16% tax (seems very high) on the grand total, the trip came out to almost $1200. It’s worth mentioning that it almost doubled from the original cost. The boat was old and very slow so it took awhile to move spot to spot. The lures for trolling were broken (wouldn’t submerge) and they didn’t have back up’s. We ended up catching a decent size amberjack on the way back after 7 hours of no fish once they found a back up lure on hour 8 of the 8 hour trip. The boat was about 45 minutes late to leave despite us being there on time. They also ran out of gas mid trip which required us to sit there for 20 minutes while they refilled and attempted to reboot the engine multiple times. Overall, wouldn’t recommend.
