Fishhound Charters
Fishhound Charters invites you on a Lake Erie fishing adventure out of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. The beautiful and bustling village of Marblehead is located at the tip of Lakeside township, which makes for easy access to the best fishing grounds around. Your guide, Steve Rumer, has fished the local waters for over 40 years and is as excited now as he was when he first started.
Fishing opportunities on Lake Erie are extraordinary from March through mid-November. Walleye is a major fish superstar that draws anglers from all over the world to this region. In the early season, you can use crankbaits, spoons, or spinners, and in the Fall, jigging with spoons in deep water is very productive. Walleye is a fish very sensitive to light, so you can target them in the early morning or evening in shallow water.
Other popular species on Lake Erie include Smallmouth Bass and Perch. Bass is only targeted on full day trips, whereas Perch can be hooked on half and full days. If you want to fish for Smallmouth Bass using live baits, just let Steve know so he can purchase the bait for you prior to the trip and at a discounted rate.
Fishhound Charters operates a 27' Sportcraft performance fishing boat originally built in 1989 and restored in 2014. Powered by a 350 HP Mercruiser engine, with a maximum cruising speed of 30 knots, the boat can get you from one spot to the next in a heartbeat. The vessel features a VHF radio which Steve uses to stay in touch with other captains on their own VHF channel. This way they are always in the know of where the fish have been spotted.
The boat also has a GPS and a fishfinder, as well as a livebait tank, and a toilet, which is a huge plus if you're bringing the whole family out. Up to five children over the age of seven are welcome, and life jackets will be provided for them.
Fishhound Charters will provide Okuma trolling rods, St Croix drifting rods, Ugly Stick rods for Perch fishing, Penn reels, and lures. Fish cleaning is available, too.

Booked a half-day perch fishing trip. Everyone had a great time and we caught more perch than we can handle! The captain is great with kids and helped us every step of the way. We will definitely be back!
Steve put us on the fish. We hit our walleye limit and Steve did a great job cleaning the fish after the trip.

my son and granddaughter had a great time. we almost limited out when others had caught only one walleye. we caught walleye, perch and a Bass. let's not forget the sheepheads that put up a good fight. the captain cleaned the fish for a small fee and did a great job.

It was our first time fishing for Lake Erie walleye. We fished with a group of six that included both experienced and novice adults and kids. We ended up catching 29 walleye plus several undersized throwbacks. Also got a bonus catfish and drum for my wife and younger daughter, respectively. Overall, it was an enjoyable family trip that we all agreed was worth repeating.
Limited out within about 3 hours. Captain Steve got us on the Walleye and we had a great time!
Captain Steve has been fishing Lake Erie for over 40 years and has seen the ups and downs of fishing here. But, he says: '...it is truly the most amazing fishery I've ever seen.'. And we believe him. With Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Perch, and other species available most of the year, Lake Erie is a great fishing destination. Steve also participated in tournaments for six to seven years and says his favorite fish to catch is Walleye, with Bass coming into a very close second place due to their good game quality.
