YB Normal

YB Normal is docked in the heart of Fort Lauderdale, ready and waiting to take groups out for a great day on the water. Captain Vinnie offers a range of trips, with four to eight-hour packages and the choice of coming as a group or jumping aboard a shared charter. With this many options, there is no excuse not to go fishing!

The YB Normal is a 43’ Torres sportfishing boat which has seen regular maintenance since the day she was built and makes for the perfect place for groups of six anglers enjoy a great day’s fishing. She has a comfortable, air-conditioned interior with a bathroom, galley, and plenty of space to relax in between bites.

She is also loaded with a literal boatload of equipment and tech to make sure you get some great catches. The latest electronics from Garmin and Furuno will sound out the deep and have you always fishing in the right spot. Outriggers and downriggers will maximize your spread and target species, and a fighting chair will let you hold your own against whatever you hook.

What you target will depend on the trip you choose. Half day charters will mainly drift and bottom fish around local reefs, targeting bottom species as well as a few fast-moving fish like King Mackerel and Bonito. Full and ¾ days can have you targeting anything from Tilefish to Sailfish, depending on what you want to get out of your trip.

Want to beat the heat and get some awesome catches while you do so? Book in for a nighttime Snapper charter, anchoring over local reefs as the sun goes down to target the big Yellowtail, Mangrove, and Mutton Snapper which come out after dark.

Whatever you do, you are in for a great time, with an experienced captain, quality equipment, and a whole ocean of awesome fish just waiting for someone to drop a hook in front of them. It might as well be you, right?

Captain Vinnie operates the YB Normal out of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and has worked aboard other boats in the area all his life. He loves being out on the water and getting groups on awesome fish. His favorite fish to catch is Black Grouper, but a huge part of what makes fishing so fun for him is never knowing what is going to bite next. This is what makes bottom fishing so fun for him - you can never tell what will take your bait!

Fishy Thanksgiving
Fishy Thanksgiving
November 25, 2020
This week is thanksgiving and I would like to wish everyone and there families a happy thanksgiving from the YB Normal. This weeks report is a fishy one with lots of variety of species we have been catching. We have been doing quite a bit of trolling this week due to the winds and seas but even though it is a little choppy out there the fish are biting! Trolling the reef has had a very good kingfish bite right on the edge of the reef in 80-120 feet of water as well as some bonito and a few sailfish mixed in. The kingfish have been biting best on the troll with planers to take the bait down under the surface, fresh bonito strips have been key! Moving offshore there has been mahi in depths from 200-400 feet all nice sized fish as well most of the mahi we have been catching have been in the 10lb range with a few bigger ones mixed in. The mahi have been biting our surface lines best with fresh ballyhoo rigged, also offshore there has been some nice sized blackfin tuna around in the later afternoons finding birds feeding on the surface is key to catching the tuna small feathers fished far back behind the boat have been working best. We have some availability for the weekend and early next week so if your looking to go fishing now is the time the weather is looking great and the fish are biting!! Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, decent report this week although not many days to get out there and fish due to the weather but I do have a report and some nice photos, lets get right into it! This week has been a windy one and rainy with heavy North East winds and rain but we did have a few days we could get out and get some fishing in, there has been some very nice mahi mahi around chasing bait in the shallow part of the reef, averaging from 10-20lbs, we have a great photo this week of a beautiful bull mahi we caught on a live ballyhoo in 40 feet of water just off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. On the troll this week there has been kingfish biting in depths from 90-120 feet on seawitches and bonito strips as well as small spoons, also a few tuna out in the deeper waters as well. Sailfish should be in full force very shortly after this cold front that we have going on right now. We did do a little bit of wreck fishing this week with great success, we caught a very nice amber jack this week on a live bait fishing a ship wreck right off the coast of fort Lauderdale, there is also a nice photo as well, this week we did some deep jigging on a sunken ship wreck and caught a nice red grouper too. Night fishing report I do not have due to the wind and weather but I hope to have one soon the snappers should be biting. We have some availability this week and next so please come out fishing with us, its a great way to get out of the house and have some fun. Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here this week we have not had the best weather so I don't have that much to report but I do have some great photos from a trip that we were able to squeeze in this week, this deep sea fishing trip was a slow pitch jigging charter, slow pitch jigging is a type of jigging technique that is becoming very popular right now in America and it is definitely a fun way to fish, using strictly jigs no bait catching some excellent eating fish is what its all about, on this trip we caught some of the best eating fish in our waters off of fort Lauderdale, we started out fishing deep for some golden tilefish which we got our limit very shortly one of my favorite type of fish to catch they live in depths from 700-900 feet, also while out in the deep we caught a giant squid which is a very rare catch on a lure I was even amazed which doesn't happen as often as you may think. We continued to work the depth in search of grey tilefish which are a smaller cousin of the golden tilefish but in my option taste just as good. We would catch a few tuna along the way while fishing the depths and to end the day we would catch one of the rarest fish I think you can catch in the Fort Lauderdale are known as a yellowedge grouper, being a charter capt for many years I could count on one hand how many I have caught over the years, Also very delicious as well. The jigging trips are a cool way to catch fish out here and definitely another tool to our arsenal in order to produce fish. The weather this week is pretty bad as we have a tropical storm approaching for the next few days but seems it will calm down towards the middle of the week, we have availability this week so dont hesitate to miss out on some great fishing.
