Fishing in Titusville

Just a stone's throw from the Mosquito and Indian River Lagoons, as well as the mighty Atlantic, Titusville has plenty of angling hotspots at its disposal. On a Titusville fishing adventure, you'll explore a whole host of backwater fisheries, as well as some some seriously exciting offshore action. Head down to this fish-filled city, located along Florida’s Space Coast, where an angler’s paradise awaits!

To the east, Titusville is bordered by the world-famous Indian River Lagoon. This diverse inshore waterway is full of Floridian-favorite fish, including Spotted Seatrout, huge Redfish, and hard-fighting Snook and Tarpon.

Titusville isn’t just home to one lagoon, though. The Mosquito Lagoon lies a short journey north, and is the perfect place to get lost among the amazing backcountry. Marshes, flats, coves, and grass beds – it’s also a dream habitat for huge Redfish, Snook, and Tarpon.  Bring along plenty of fighting spirit – and bug spray!

A Titusville fishing excursion can also mean some deep sea action if you want it to. Although inshore fishing is the main focus here, take advantage of the city’s proximity to the Atlantic and you’ll be rewarded in kind. Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel, tasty Mangrove Snapper, and Jack Crevalle can all be hooked not far from shore.

If you’re a newer angler, a half day trip allows plenty of time to experience some prime inshore fishing. More experience under your belt? A full day cruising the lagoon will let you battle that trophy Bull Red to your heart’s content! If you’re opting to explore waters offshore, you’ll want to dedicate a full day to the rod-bending action on offer.

Rules & Regulations

If you’re fishing alongside an experienced charter captain, your license will be covered for you, as well as all necessary equipment. Some species have strict bag and size restrictions, and your captain will be able to ensure you’re fishing within the law.

Titusville Fishing Seasons

January

January is an inshore fisher’s paradise around Titusville. Gator Seatrout and Bull Redfish stalk the crystal-clear waters under bright blue skies (when the weather cooperates). If you’re looking for a trophy, now’s the time.

February

It’s red-hot rod-bending action inshore but nearshore fishing is strong, too. Amberjack, Barracuda, Striped Bass, Cobia, and many other species can be hooked into. Make sure to dress for the weather!

March

Sight fishing for Redfish remains strong during March. Spotted Seatrout and Snook are plentiful. Cobia, Amberjack, Mahi Mahi, Bonito, and more species can all be found in coastal waters.

April

You can find feisty Redfish around oyster bars and under vegetation. Further out in the ocean, you can go after Barracuda, Amberjack, Cobia, Mahi Mahi, and other hardy fighters.

May

Kingfish, Wahoo, and Yellowfin Tuna fishing is excellent in the offshore waters of Titusville during May. In the lagoons, you can look forward to good Snook. Redfish get more active as the water warms up.

June

You can look forward to many small Tarpon appearing in the area, followed by giant Silver Kings – the perfect time to tick that off your bucket list. Further out, you’ll find awesome Barracuda, Mahi Mahi, and Kingfish action.

July

Red-hot weather and red-hot fishing, that’s the name of the game! Offshore anglers can go after Yellowfin Tuna and Wahoo, while inshore it’s all about landing as many Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, and Tarpon as possible.

August

Torpedo-sized Tarpon show up in the Mosquito Lagoon and the Indian River Lagoon this time of year. Night fishing for Snook, day fishing for Redfish, and a lot of other rod-bending action happens all over the area.

September

Seatrout move to the edges of the flats while Redfish chow down on plentiful Mullet. Flounder starts appearing near the entrances to inlets, so make sure to get your gig ready.

October

If you’re looking to land a Cow Striper, now’s the time. Redfish move into the deeper waters of the Indian River Lagoon and they’re in a feeding frenzy – live bait fishing is very rewarding in October.

November

Big breeding Redfish are the perfect target to break your personal best. Black Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Jacks, and Bluefish are very good in coastal waters.

December

It might be cold but the fishing hasn’t slowed down one bit! Offshore you’re looking at great Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Cobia, Bonito, and Amberjack action. Inshore it’s all about big Redfish and Spotted Seatrout.
