Fishing in Buzzards Bay will give you amazing opportunities both inshore and offshore. As an ace up its sleeve, the bay has miles of beautiful coastline and offers great shore fishing as well. The main fishing season lasts from May–November, so make sure to come at the right time.
A half day trip will mostly take you after Flounder, Porgy, Bluefish, or Black Seabass. Interested in heading offshore for 12 hours? You'll be able to target bullet-fast species like Bluefin Tuna and Albacore Tuna. These trips also put Haddock, Cod, and Pollock on your radar.
The main star of the show in Buzzards Bay is Striped Bass. They tend to mingle around spots with a strong current, so it's best to find a local guide who's familiar with the area. A guide is also crucial if you're interested in the ultimate Striper challenge – catching them from shore. If you're up for catching the king of the bay, come here early May.
Trips out of the upper part of Buzzards Bay will give you a shortcut to Cape Cod Bay. You can get there through the artificial Cape Cod Canal, which is not just a passage but also a great fishing spot during fall. If you're fishing offshore and want a head start, head out of New Bedford, which is one of the most productive fishing ports in the US.
