Hybrid/Striper fishing on Clarks Hill Lake, the largest Corp of Engineers lake East of the Misissippi. Much of the lake is in rural areas and receives much lower fising pressure than other lakes in the South East. The fishing for Hybrids/Stripers is outstanding. We will primarily fish with live bait but there are times that casting/pulling artificial is very productive as well.

Crappie are prized Panfish known for fast action and tasty fillets. South Carolina shines for Black Crappie and White Crappie thanks to fertile lakes, flooded timber, and long growing seasons. Spring brings shallow bites, while fall and winter produce steady action on deeper structure. Many anglers visit for the chance at numbers and steady rod bends.

Guides use simple, effective tactics that suit any skill level. Expect spider rigging, which is slow trolling with several rods, to cover water. Longlining and tightlining help find suspended fish along creek channels. Vertical jigging and casting small jigs to brush piles also work. Live minnows under a slip bobber are a go-to when fish get picky. Ultralight spinning gear with 4–8 lb line keeps the fight fun.

A typical charter runs on a stable bass boat or pontoon with quality electronics. Trips are relaxed, kid-friendly, and focused on safe, steady catching. Your captain supplies tackle and bait, and cleans your catch where offered. Bring weather-appropriate clothing, polarized sunglasses, snacks, and a small cooler for fillets. Early mornings are popular, and night fishing around lighted docks or bridges can be hot in summer.

The Palmetto State offers standout waters from the Upstate to the Lowcountry. Santee Cooper’s Lakes Marion and Moultrie are legendary for slabs. Lake Murray near Columbia has strong year-round action and countless docks. Lake Wateree, Lake Greenwood, Lake Wylie, Lake Hartwell, and Lake Russell all hold healthy populations. Coastal plain rivers and backwaters with cypress knees and laydowns can be excellent after spring rains.

Before you go, check South Carolina’s freshwater license rules and general regulations. Seasons, harvest limits, and gear rules can change. Your captain can point you to the latest guidance, but each angler is responsible for having the right license and following current laws.

    Epic day!

Capt Chris was incredibly knowledgeable about the water and fish, we appreciated the education as much as the fishing! Looking forward to a crappie fry with the family tonight!

    Fun trip

Caught some big cats and crappie. Weather was bad and Captain Steve stayed out longer to make up the rain time. Boat big enough to move around in easily. Great experience.
