Good Time Charlie Sportfishing is located in Newport, Oregon and runs ocean fishing trips out of South Beach Marina for halibut, salmon, rockfish, lingcod, tuna, and crab.  Our goal is to provide a fun and safe experience with memories to last a lifetime.  Whether this is your first trip on the ocean or you’re an old salty dog, we will work with you to provide the experience you’re looking for.

Capt. Joe will work hard make sure you have a fun day of fishing. He's also happy to take families with little kids because he believes sharing experiences on the ocean at an early age fosters love of the ocean for a lifetime.  Good Time Charlie Sportfishing is happy to customize a family trip for you if you have small children.

Your fishing adventure starts on a 27' Northwest boat with a full cabin that can safely take up to 6 anglers and keep everyone dry on the ride to the fishing grounds.  The boat has down riggers for trolling and power assist reels for deepwater halibut fishing.

All rods, reels, and terminal tackle are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters, having fun fishing. Please make sure to buy a valid fishing license ahead of time.

This is a full day version of our lingcod/rockfish trip allowing more time to fish areas further from the harbor.  This is an excellent trip to spend the day on the water and pursue some excellent tablefare while having a great time. We will target lingcod and quality rockfish using a variety of baits. This is a shared trip with up to six people aboard. Crabbing can be added for an additional fee. Please message us if you have less than 3 people.

Lingcod/Rockfish trips are a great way to get out on the water and catch some excellent tablefare. We will target Lingcod, several species of Rockfish, and Cabezon when the season is open. Trips are usually back to the dock by lunchtime with coolers full of excellent table fare. Lingcod/Rockfish trips are great for people who are new to ocean fishing since they are shorter trips and closer to shore. This is a shared trip with a maximum of six people aboard. Crabbing can be added for an additional fee.

Half-Day – Lingcod/Rockfish Shared

Winter lingcod/rockfish trips are late fall through early spring trips that are very weather dependent. The Oregon Coast can be very rough so we are really careful and run trips only when the weather and ocean is cooperating. There can be some amazing fishing days in the 'offseason,' especially for high quality lingcod. This is a 6 hour shared trip for up to 6 people. We need a minimum of 4 people to make this trip a go.

Winter Lingcod/Rockfish Shared

This is a shared trip for up to six people. The ocean salmon fishery is one of our favorites – the salmon are usually close to the surface and the action can be really fast-paced once we get into them. We will primarily target coho (silver) salmon but can sometimes get into chinook (king) salmon if they are around. This is typically a troll fishery but sometimes we will mooch or drop bait over the rail. We will run these trips until the coho quota is reached. Crabbing can be added for an extra fee.

Full Day – Salmon Shared

Lingcod/Rockfish trips are a great way to get out on the water and catch some excellent tablefare. We will target Lingcod, several species of Rockfish, and Cabezon when the season is open. This is a full day, offshore fishing trip. We will travel 15-40 miles from the harbor into deeper water to pursue these delicious flatfish. We use custom rods and electric reels to make the experience more enjoyable. Everyone will get their own rod/reel setup and high quality baits. While halibut fishing we may also catch rockfish and lingcod. This is a private trip with a maximum of four people so everyone will have more comfort and a higher chance at success.
