Fishing Report: Cold Weather Redfish & Speckled Sea Trout Frenzy The chilly weather has settled in, but that hasnโ€™t slowed down the action on the water! Redfish and speckled sea trout are the stars of the show this week, with both species feeding aggressively in response to the dropping temperatures. Redfish: The redfish bite has been nothing short of phenomenal. These cold-weather warriors are schooling up in the shallows and creek mouths, taking advantage of the warming sun during mid-morning and early afternoon. Theyโ€™re loving shrimp-tipped jig heads and soft plastics with a slow presentation. Target them around oyster bars, grass flats, and drop-offsโ€”spots with a mix of structure and a consistent current are producing the best results. Speckled Sea Trout: Speckled trout are holding strong along deeper ledges, creek channels, and in protected areas where the water temp is slightly higher. Suspending twitch baits and live shrimp under a popping cork have been irresistible to them. Look for areas where baitfish are present, as the trout are capitalizing on these easy meals. Early mornings have been productive, but the bite stays solid throughout the day with the right approach.
