We booked a light tackle fishing trip – but it turned out to be the worst experience we’ve ever had.
The tackle was in terrible condition: old, poorly maintained rods and reels, one reel even completely broken.
No pre-tied rigs, so the captain had to tie new ones every time, wasting 15–20 minutes each time.
Only three rods on board, no spare weights, and only squid was used as bait – no alternatives like stickbaits, spinning lures, or anything else were available.
There was also no ice on board to keep the fish fresh – totally unprofessional.
To make things worse, we only caught small baitfish – nothing over 400 grams – despite being on the water for hours.
Overall, the trip was completely unprepared and far below any acceptable standard for a paid light tackle charter.

On the 25 of July we went live bait trolling with Roberto. At the beginning we had a difficult time catching some baits but when we caught enough it took not very long to hook a big fish. At the end we drove back to the Harbour with bluefin tuna around 70kg in the back of the boat. Altogether the trip was very fun and totally worth it. We would definitely recommend it to do a trip with Roberto and we will come back when we are on Sardinia again.

My boyfriend booked a fishing trip, I had no expectations and to be honest I don’t like fishing. But captain Roberto made this a once in a life time experience for me. When we met Roberto it was like we have known him before, he is so kind and funny and a man of the sea… He knows what he is doing and we learned a lot from him. What I love about him is that he respects the sea. Small bait goes back and he takes what he needs, if the bait doesn’t get used it’s going back to the sea. My boyfriend didn’t catch a tuna but Roberto went above and beyond to try to catch some. We had so much fun at the boat and on the sea, I even got to go for a swim in the middle of the sea. We saw dolphins… When we mentioned we love to go snorkling, Roberto had a surprise for me, we switched boats and he took us to the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen, I couldn’t believe my eyes, we saw so much fish and even a murene and a stonefish. Roberto had a smile on his face the whole day, he works hard and he wants you to have the best experience there is. Thank you so much Roberto for everything you did for us. We had an amazing dat with you! I will remember this day for the rest of my life… Ciao Anke
