My wife, two adult sons, and I went out of Galveston for the first time and I’m so glad we went with Captain John.

It was a calm, foggy morning so we headed for the jetty. We caught a good variety of fish, limiting out on sheepshead. Also caught a really nice (nearly 28”) slot red. We also caught about 20 hard head catfish that kept us all on our toes.

We also hooked a big fish that took all the line off the reel, had another that we fought for a long time before it broke the line, and another big sheepshead that spit the hook just before we got it in the net. Enough “big one that got away” stories for everyone.

Captain John was awesome through out! He did a great job on keeping shrimp on all our hooks and net our fish. He helped cast those that needed help to get in close to the shore. He never complained when we got snagged up in the rocks and he had to try to help free it or put on a new hook & sinker if the line broke.

He cleaned all our fish and got us on our way, just in time for his afternoon trip.

All in all, a good time was had by all. Really great experience!

So glad we booked with captain John- Mark Fortner. Took my 3 my three grandchildren out bay fishing caught a lot of fish and 3 big reds. Captain John was very attentive, good personality and I highly recommend booking a fishing charter with him and if we ever go back to Galveston will definitely go again. My wife and I booked this trip to give our son a truly unique fishing experience, and Captain John did not disappoint! Before this, we had only fished in small ponds and rivers, so we weren’t sure what to expect. But from start to finish, this was hands down one of the best experiences we’ve ever had as a family. Captain John was knowledgeable, patient, and made sure we all had a fantastic time on the water. Watching our son reel in his own catch and seeing his excitement about cooking it when we got home was priceless. We’ll definitely be back for another trip!

What a beautiful day on the water with Captain John! Super fun personality and took care of all our needs while catching quality fish. Should’ve booked the full day trip knowing what we know now. On a more personal note, I have mobility issues and need a cane at all times. He made sure at all times to put me in safe, comfortable positions to fish which made this a wonderful day.

Great time with Captain John-Mark. We first went fishing for some bait fish, then out about 4.5 miles to one of his preferred spots. After a few short minutes, shark was biting. We caught some beautiful black tips that put up a good fight. Cannot recommend Captain more - he is professional, calm and you can tell that he enjoys what he does. Great for professional anglers and families alike.
