We booked a half day (6 hour) trip with Big Tex!  He is a real pro!  We had an awesome trip!  Our group of 4 was very inexperienced and he was very patient with us and very attentive!  He explained and showed us how to use the equipment and was right there to re-bait lines and help when we caught fish or got stuck in rocks!  He was responsive when I messaged/texted him prior to our trip! 100% recommend and 100% would book with him again!  Thanks Big Tex for a great fishing trip!

John was remarkable! Didn’t expect to catch much, if anything at all due to the weather/wind. John put us on fish right out the gate!! Ended up taking home a black tip shark (68”) and a Red fish (40”) not bad for a 25th anniversary fishing trip to celebrate! Would Definitely recommend BigTex to anyone coming to Galveston to fish! My son and I went with Captain John in April 2025. I have been on many other fishing trips, and I can say John is one of the best in the business. His great personality makes the trip more enjoyable. The captain has a nice trolling motor,  so you can start fishing right away, and he keeps the boat fairly in place while you’re fishing. If you’re searching for your next fishing trip, you will definitely not go wrong with Captain John!

We were scheduled to go out at 11am. Storms were in the area but settled, however Captain John had a cancelation and allowed us to come get the experience early. Hot August day and nothing running but shark. Captain John greeted us warmly, explained the situation and we agreed to go after shark. Took about 20 minutes to get to the spot and put 3 lines out. Had our first black tip, a 4 footer, in about 5 minutes. In total, we bagged 4 black tips and even a 5 foot hammerhead that we released. He put us on the fish and we had an amazing time.
