The bite was light, but we still brought in sheepshead, black drum, and a shark. My 14-year was thrilled and said he had an amazing time (pretty high accolades from someone who prefers to be on screens)! John was awesome and very committed to giving us the best experience possible. I can’t imagine a better captain and will book through him again if we make it back to Houston! I would still give this a 5-star review even if we did not catch anything!

John was remarkable! Didn’t expect to catch much, if anything at all due to the weather/wind. John put us on fish right out the gate!! Ended up taking home a black tip shark (68”) and a Red fish (40”) not bad for a 25th anniversary fishing trip to celebrate! Would Definitely recommend BigTex to anyone coming to Galveston to fish! My son and I went with Captain John in April 2025. I have been on many other fishing trips, and I can say John is one of the best in the business. His great personality makes the trip more enjoyable. The captain has a nice trolling motor,  so you can start fishing right away, and he keeps the boat fairly in place while you’re fishing. If you’re searching for your next fishing trip, you will definitely not go wrong with Captain John!

We were scheduled to go out at 11am. Storms were in the area but settled, however Captain John had a cancelation and allowed us to come get the experience early. While we waited for the weather to calm l, we were still engaged on fishing within the dock. It was a fun experience before the actual full experience. Had an incredible time with Captin John extremely professional we limited it out on black tips caught several more fish and he took incredible. Good care of our meat making sure that we had very clean delicious shark me to eat. I would highly recommend fishing with these guys
