Fishing can be unpredictable some days are incredibly rewarding, and others are slower, which is simply part of the sport. If you check our recent reviews, you’ll see that we’ve had many fantastic fishing days lately. Unfortunately, we can’t control nature, and as much as we would love to guarantee a big catch every time, that’s just not how fishing works.

Regarding our recommendation for a 3/4 day trip, it was simply to explain that offshore fishing (where you wanted to go) requires more time. A half-day trip (4-5 hours) doesn’t always allow us to reach the deeper waters where larger fish like Marlins and Sailfish are more commonly found. Sometimes, we do get lucky and hook one on a half-day trip, but that’s not something we can promise every day.

I’m also sorry to hear that you felt the crew was not overly engaging. When I personally met you on the beach afterward and asked how your experience was, you told me everything was perfect and that you had a lot of fun. Additionally, we went the extra mile to take you and your son to a private beach for swimming, using extra fuel to make sure you had a great time even though the fishing was slow.

We always strive to provide the best experience possible, whether it’s through great fishing, excellent service, or unique moments on the water. We hope to have the chance to take you out again in the future, and hopefully, we’ll have one of those fantastic fishing days that we all love!

Just to clarify, I’m not a tourist, as you mentioned in your review. I was born and raised right here in Playa Tamarindo, and I’ve been fishing these waters for years, over 350 days a year since the start of my career. This is not a hobby for me; it’s my profession and my passion.

Based on your comments, it seems you may not have much experience with deep sea fishing. Anyone who truly understands the sport knows that results are never guaranteed. Some days the bite is hot, other days the fish just aren’t interested, that’s the reality of fishing.

During your trip, we adjusted tactics, changed teasers and baits, and even raised 3 sailfish, but they didn’t want to bite. That’s not due to a lack of effort or knowledge. In fact, later that same afternoon, we landed yellowfin tunas. And just today, we brought in 2 sailfish and 3 more yellowfin. Every day is different out there, sometimes the action happens in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon.

Fishing isn’t always predictable, and that’s part of what makes it exciting and real. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your time here in Costa Rica.
