Troy and Jackson with HookedUp Sporting provided a bucket list adventure. Within an hour had a blue marlin on the hook and the fun began. They were knowledgeable, engaging, and extremely helpful as we worked the marlin in after two hours and 50 minutes. Ten foot, ten inches, and 527 pounds.  Highly recommend this charter service.

Beautiful weather, nice boat, helpful crew, and lots and lots of tuna. So much tuna. Plus whales! A great trip.

Best fishing tip ever. After an hour of reeling in a monster fish the reel broke. And Troy (deckhand) hand hauled it in for the last 20 feet after an exhausting fight. Getting the fish in the boat was an even bigger challenge and we were all triumphant when we hauled it over the deck. Captain Zack did a great job getting my son the fish of a lifetime on his 14th birthday. Epic!

Overall we had a great day! However, we quickly learned after talking to locals our ignorance to the process was exploited. We never had a conversation about mounting options or receiving any meat from the catch during our trip. My husband and I honestly went in with the expectation we wouldn’t catch much and were supportive if we did catch anything the meat staying on the island to support local business and the crew. When my husband caught a fish of a lifetime we were so excited and overwhelmed we didn’t ask any questions or know what questions to ask, in good faith we would be guided through the process. We didn’t realize that mounting was an option for the head of the fish until after the fish was cut up to fit in the chest. We later observed a small sign that highlighted mounting options. We also were not aware we were entitled to any of the meat for a dinner to be prepared by a local restaurant. If we knew we would have taken enough for dinner and were in full support of most of the meat staying on the island and going to the crew, as it is a business and we like to support local when we can. However, we left empty handed. Overall it was a fun day and we made memories of a lifetime! It was definitely a learning experience for both of us. I would strongly encourage for people new to the process to have conversation with the crew about options for mounting and taking some of the catch so that both the crew and yourself can benefit from the trip, setting all expectations early. I would strongly recommend taking one of these trips and engage in business with crews that exhibit genuine values, professionalism, and an ethical morale.
