Red Snapper are biting!

May 5, 2025 Panama City Beach

A few more weeks til opening of Red Snapper season. We are catching and returning quite a few legal size Snapper right now. It will be a great season this year! Today we caught one Bonita, a few Red Snapper, a bunch of Red Grouper, a legal sized Trigger, a Gag Grouper, a few smaller snapper, and a handful of ruby red lips and squirrel fish. We lost a couple of big Grouper as well. All in all fishing has been hot lately and only getting better each day.

Huge Amberjack and Grouper

Ended up taking out the Hatteras on a last minute change but nice big Spanish Mackerel to start with, then got a bunch of Huge Amberjack! A handful of smaller snappers and ended the day with a monster Gag Grouper (out of season). Fishing has been great lately with a lot of King Mackerel being caught now as well.

Captain Clay was AMAZING!! Clay immediately put us on top of fish and my six year old reeled the first one in. He was amazing and very nice. He made sure our hooks were baited at all times and even helped my son fish and allowed us to enjoy the trip as well. I ended up getting sea sick and Clay was prompt to offer help and get me an ice pack. Just a wonderful trip and a wonderful captain! My family and I will definitely be back! Had a great time with Capt Jeff and Crew. Went trolling for Spanish Mackerel and put a ton of them on the boat. Non stop action. We will be back and definitely recommend Diamond in the Rough! Thank you guys.

Very down to earth guys. Both the captain and first mate were great with my grandsons who were excited through the entire trip. Captain Clay promised Shark and Reds. He amd Solomon delivered perfectly. Really liked the boat and it was obvious that Captain an First Mate well maintained the boat. They both had a lot of exoerience deep sea fishing and had great fishing stories to tell. My grandaons have two new heros. I have and will refer other anglers to Captain Clay and Solomon. Excellent trip in the most comfortable boat we have been in on the Gulf. Fishing was so good, we had a period of the trip hoping the fish would NOT bite as we were exhausted! We caught a large variety of fish, most of which were of some size and more Amberjacks than our arms could handle. Excellent fishing, we will be back!
