- I am a 3rd generation fisherman here in Fort Lauderdale. My dad is a fisherman, so I grew up in the charter fishing business... in fact, my parents actually met at the dock where I still work today. I fished alongside my father throughout my high school years, as a deckhand on fishing charters as well as fishing the Bahamas Billfish Champion Circuit every year. I got my captain's license the first month I turned 18 years old and have been fishing full time ever since.
- Techniques
- We drift fish on the reefs during the day, bottom fishing with chunks of squid, ballyhoo and sardines. We fish mainly for snappers, groupers and the whole array of small bottom fish that are good eating. On the day trips, you can also jig (no braided line allowed aboard) or you can flat-line. The mate will rig you up however you ask him to.
